Some of my favorite quotes of the evening:

*Julie's porn

Sandy: I'll call the Colonel... it's a Boogie Nights reference, expect a lot of them.

Julie: I am so screwed.
Sandy: I know, I saw the footage.

*Last year:

Seth (about "The Valley"): Last year was just better.

Seth (to Ryan): You're punching people, that's very last year.

Seth: I was just trying on clothes from last year.

Summer: I'm going to kick his ass into last year.

The producers and writers seem to be going to great lengths to get the point out that season 1 was better and they have done this with not only the dialogue but by getting rid of everyone they brought on for love interests.
You have to feel sorry for Alex although she did go a bit overboard with the thugs at the end. My question is, is what is everyone seeing in Marissas that makes them want her. I think she really is a unstable brat.

Not many comments from people about this episode...?

I caught part of this episode the other day. It seems to me (just based on having seen the first half of S1 and maybe 3 episodes of S2) that the acting has just gotten really bad.

Yes, so they point out there's a problem, but do nothing to correct it!

The "oh, it was new last year" excuse is a load of bs.

The new additions to the cast were the only thing keeping this show interesting for me. I don't know if they can salvage this season in the remaining 8 episodes, but Josh Schwartz and his crew better sit down and think long and hard about what they're gonna do in Season 3 or else this show is gonna be done real soon.

probablya stupid question, but I'm gonna ask anyway. Was last week's episode (3/17) an original, repeat or not even on? The reason is, my Motorola HD PVR is supposed to pick up the first run episodes and last night I sat down to watch the episode from the 17th and there was nothing there.

Thanks!

uuuggghhhh...thanks for the confirm. I was afraid of that. Seems that these Motorola HD PVR's have a habit of not recording some shows.....bummer.

So does everyone think Marissa will be "Reformed" and be back with Ryan by the end of the season? I think it's a cheat if they do that but...
I did read that Lindsay will not be back; at least for this season anyway.

The question is: will we all stay watching for a third season? I won't, unless significant improvements happen in the remaining eps of this one.

Will the kids still be in high school in season 3? I can't remember if this is their junior or senior year.

I believe Josh Schwartz has stated they're juniors this season. Maybe he should reconsider though cuz I don't think they've got enough storylines left for another year of high school.

Do you think Julie will sell the magazine for 500k after its launch to pay for the rights of the porn, or do you think Caleb will "loose" 500k?

Those "Thugs" Alex brought to the bonfire, didn't look the slightest intimidating at all. Id laugh if I was Ryan.

Whats also funny is that instead of Ryan calling Marissa to pick her up for the bonfire, he went to Alex's apt. to surprise her, even though it was quite obvious (even to Ryan) that she wasn't going to be there. It was kind of a forced interaction between Ryan and Alex by the writers, and its those kind of things that I find detract from the show. Last year was better :D

Hey, hey, Ryan gets into a fight (and Marisa is along for the ringside view), seems like old times.

Not sure if Ryan's brother will fit in (he reminded me of Kutcher-lite).

Julie got exactly what she deserved. Caleb is so evil, but in a grandfatherly way.

Carter and Ki-ki is a flame-out (as in, boring).

Zach knows Seth so well. So sad for Zach, hopefully he bounces back, he deserved better treatment.

OK. 1st un-realistic moment of the show.......

When Ryan's brother, who was clearly offended at the clothing store, returns the next day to purchase a $200. watch for Ryan as a thank you gift. -- RIGHT! Cause after im offended by a merchant, I like to support them and buy more stuff there. Not only that, but after I knock down a couple displays out of anger, they would totally let me back in the next day to make such purchase that they had accused me of stealing the day before.

2nd most un-realistic thing. Ryan had no facial bruising or redness that would tip off Sandy and Kirsten after the fight at the bar in Chino.

Now, I was thinking, the blackmail-guy. Caleb had two of his own thugs in the hotel room after he took back the money. But the blackmail guy shows up at Kirsten's house as a servant (without any bruising). I think Caleb set it up that the thugs instructed the blackmailer to play the tape at the launch party and gave him access. Otherwise, Caleb would've had security search the perimeter for the culprit. Lets face it, he never liked the idea of a magazine in the first place. He wanted to teach Julie a lesson, or knock her off her high horse. Perhaps he just wanted her out of his business, so he can run it again now that his trial is all said and done. Caleb played his cards perfectly in that aspect.

That was a fluffy episode, to say the least. Not much of consequence happened.

Nice egg, though.

As a fan of "Risky Business," I probably got more out of this episode than some others. I dug the use of the Tangerine Dream score in key scenes, not to mention the little homages. :D

But yeah, a pretty fluffy episode...

my DVR deleted this episode before I could watch. Did anything else happen beside Ryan and Marissa hooking up as the promos said they would?
