Didn't someone take David Bowie?

Seriously, most people have been taking rock so far, and while there are some very, very good female rock artists, it's hard to argue that any of them are on a par with the Beatles, Stones, etc.

As a matter of fact, in most genres, the very best seem to be male (although there are certainly a couple of genres where that's not true). Still, there are plenty of great female artists in many genres, and I don't doubt for a moment that many will get selected.

I love many classical composers both before and after Beethoven, including Bach. Bach was great, indeed, one of the greatest, but no, I don't think anything he did can touch Beethoven's symphonies, especially the 7th (my favorite classical piece of all time).

I should also point out that my 2nd pick (VU) has a female drummer.

I'm going to be picking all "popular music" (rock/pop/r&b/folk) artists. While I love a lot of jazz & classical, I just don't know enough about it to honestly claim any particular artist as a favorite.
