[c]The Velvet Underground[/c]

When I was about 14, I was listening to top 40 and classic rock radio. Good stuff, mind you, but nothing too daring. Then my older sister handed me a copy of Velvet Underground and Nico and it opened up a whole new world for me.

Favorite album: still Velvet Underground and Nico

Steve:

Thanks, your pick is a great one as well. Sorry to see the Velvets go; I was hoping to snatch them up later. I've always loved that quote about how not a lot of people bought the Velvet's debut, but everyone who did started a band. Who said that? Why do I think it was Brian Eno? Chuck, do you know?

I was right, it was Brian Eno.

A little Googling found the answer...

"Indeed, one of the most telling comments about the [Velvet Underground] comes from Brian Eno who said, somewhat jokingly, that almost no one bought their records when they first came out, but those who did went on to form their own bands."

And I formed one too, but years later... :D

DAMN DAMN DAMN! I go away for a few days and I miss a Draft that I DESPERATELY would love to be a part of. Damn!

It's interesting that not one person has taken a female artist. 7 of my 10 Rounds would be female artists, and I'd only have to worry about someone else taking 3 of my picks. It'll be interesting to see if and how quickly those 3 get chosen.

Looks like this contest could use a female perspective.
Hmm? How so?

I'm gonna take Neil Young.

I hope I don't regret this pick. There are other people/bands I actually want a lot more, but I think they'll still be there later. (This could really come back to bite me on the ass.)

It is still early, Vickie. Give us a little time. When I said a female perspective, I was referring to seeing a female involved in making picks and since there had been no women signing up, I figured that I would do it since there was one slot left.
