Well...with DVR technology you're probably right.

I thought it was a decent start. They used a lot of Wiig, which made me happy. My favorite bits were the Digital Short and Solid Gold.

I also liked Kanye's self-deprecating sketch and I was impressed with how he handled his freestyling flub.

Anybody else watch this in SD? They formatted for 16:9 and lopped off the sides, very apparent during the title sequence and anytime there was text on the screen, it was chopped.

I'm pretty sure it was letterbox on SD. I know they did letter box last season and I didn't notice it being cut off saturday night. Maybe i wasn't paying attention. I have charter cable and for the SD NBC they pass the HD feed with the sides chopped off. You can clearly see half of the "NBC HD" logo" which is not present on the SD feed. I was watching somewhere else saturday though and don't recall anything strange.

which sketch was the wiig cameltoe in...?!?!?

Anyways, opening sketch was like root canal.
Some later bits ok. To me being a long time dog lover, the angry dog food thing with that f*ckhead on the bag was in bad taste and just went over like a lead balloon. It seemed the audience didn't dig it either.
We stopped at the weekend update but 1/2 way through for a season opener, pretty mediocre in our opinions.

The Angry Dog Food commercial was funny because it was in bad taste. As was Ambiguously Gay Duo. Except that was screamingly funny.

Also, didja catch the name of narrator for the Solid Gold sketch?

The ad for this saturdays episode with Bon Jovi shows human forms(parodies) of the Electric Mayhem band and Swedish Chef.

Did anybody watch when Bon Jovi was hosting? I didn't see the whole show, but I saw Bon Jovi sing twice, not the Foo Fighters. :frowning:

Foo Fighters performed once, right after Weekend Update. They also briefly appeared in the digital short, "People Getting Punched Right Before Eating." I don't think I remember laughing so hard at an SNL segment ever.

I liked the skit at the end with Bon Jovi in the early 80's. The band wanted to call themselves something different and he was like "I was thinking of calling the band "Bon Jovi". It was funny.

Best show of the season but I can't deny that it was incredibly disappointing to have only one Foos song. They should have just had Bon Jovi be the musical guest and saved the Foos for later. I had considered doing the standby line for this show since I'm a big Foo fan and even though logistically it never would have worked out, I'm really glad for that.

Good episode.

Opener, game show (Wiig was hot), Dane cook, naming the band, and Barkley and Bjork were good.

Jon Bon Jovi was on Conan and talked about some ideas he had for sketches but they were turned down. They sounded pretty good. For a host who could act and isn't afraid to do anything for laughs, I was disappointed the writers had him playing himself so much.
