Just wanted to show my appreciation for the 2004 Dawn of the Dead; I remember seeing this in the theater & being quite impressed. Excellent, grim story & amazing effects; back in '04 there hadn't been the plethora of zombie movies & TV shows that we see today, so this was somewhat unique at the time. Great cast as well; big fan of Sarah Polley (Go is one of my favorite '90's flicks), as well as Ving Rhames (among others).
I like how it starts at the beginnings of the virus & follows a group of "ordinary" people as they end up trapped in the Mall. Also really dig the inclusion of the Johnny Cash song "When the Man comes around", which has a definite post-apocalyptic tone/vibe.
In fact, I find the '04 Dawn of the Deadthe best zombie movie I have seen, hands down (and I've seen many of them). I definitely find it superior to the original Romero '78 version, the original NOTLD, etc.
