I see a lot of recommendations for Martin. Is it good, great, excellent, or just plain overrated?
I'd say excellent. It's an intriguing and disturbing little horror film that is second only to Dawn of the Dead as Romero's best film, IMO. It stays away from the cliches of the average film dealing with the mythology of vampires. What makes it intriguing is trying to figure out if Martin truly is a vampire or just a frightingly disturbed young man (leaving the question unanswered is part of the reason I found the movie unnerving, also). And, the mere fact you actually come to care about a character like Martin, even after everything you see him do, is what makes it disturbing.

Another of my top five favorites:

Before man walked the earth...it slept for centuries. It is evil. It is real. It is awakening.

"Pray for death."

Still the best screen adaptation of The Island of Dr. Moreau, I'll take Island of Lost Souls.

There honestly hasn't been a film picked yet that I don't love.

My next pick is the best zombie film of all time if you ask me:

"At a certain point in your life you realize you know more dead people than living."

"I'd give my life to be dead."

"No, please don't. He's only eating me!"

"Stop killing the dead. They're mine."
