    1. Last Of The Mohicans - A (Holds up as one of my favorite action/adventure films. Great dialogue, outstanding score and cinematography. The climax on the cliffs that Mann plays almost silently is breathtaking.)
    2. Heat - A
    3. The Insider - B+
    4. Manhunter - B+
    5. Ali - B-
(Fatal mistake of spending so much time on The Rumble in the Jungle when there was no way he could do a better job than When We Were Kings)
    6. Public Enemies - B-
    7. Collateral - C+
(Very good, tense character study ruined by final 20 minutes)

Own: 1 (I used to own Mohicans, got rid of it to get the DTS version, only I never got around to buying it. At this point I'll just wait for it on HD format)

Kind of interested in The Keep and Thief.

    Rankings

1)Heat (a tad overrated & overlong but the teaming of screen greats Pacino and De Niro makes this extra special)
2)The Last of the Mohicans (a 90's classic)
3)Collateral (Cruise is good as the stone cold killer for hire. Excellent thriller but the film loses momentum in the protracted climax)

    Ratings out of 5.

The Keep is one bizarre little film, but it absolutely overflows with an abundance of style and atmosphere!

    Heat (1995) (have on VHS)
    The Insider (1999)
Manhunter (1986) (have on DVD & VHS)
    The Keep (1983)
    Thief (1981) (have on VHS)

While "Heat" has a good storyline, and cast, it was way too long to hold the audience's attention.

"Manhunter" is a very good adaptation of the book "Red Dragon". The dark drama was acted well, and the tense suspense stands up still with each viewing.

"Thief" is yet another dark drama with good tension building, but, the ending is very anti-climatic.

Michael Mann is one director who's films are unique in their style and drama, always will be one of my favorite directors.

I have a great fondness for Thief... for one thing, I had read the book it was based on first and it was a favorite of mine. Also, the movie introduced me to Tangerine Dream, which ended up being my first concert (way back in 1986!). So my "personal" score would be a 10, but when I try to be objective about it I realize it's not perfect. Other than that, Mann is very ho hum.

Now I've got to listen to the Thief soundtrack for the 100th time.
