Okay, here we go!

Round 1 - Bracket 1

Inherit the Wind vs. Written on the Wind

Round 1 - Bracket 2

The Caine Mutiny vs. Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)

Hey, I'm in a silly mood this morning. :)

Feel free to keep seconding and thirding the nominated films. Let's see if we can get enough to use as wild cards. My post above has the updated list.

A Star Is Born (tough draw, I'm afraid it's going to lose this one)

The Lost Weekend

So Mr. Deeds isn't considered dramatic enough then? It's not outright comely afterall (less than Stalag 17, for one), with plenty of (melo)drama wrung from Jean Arthur's betraying of Deeds, the plight of the common man, and the court trial where Deeds could potentially be locked up and his fortune sent to greedy relatives instead of starving farmers. Plus, Cooper and Arthur play it pretty much straight. It fits the classic Hollywood Drama mold better than several already in, I'd say (and better than the already excised Capra films It Happened One Night and You Can't Take it With You, which feature more overtly comic characters).

I admit my Pinocchio nomination was more of a reach though.
