Yep, Ceton is rolling out their next generation Media Center Extender + Full Media Center (running embedded) as well as it's linkage to Windows Phone, IOS, Android to allow easier portability of everything you have at your home (including Live TV).

Betas are open for those that want to join

If they're not starting beta testing until mid-July, it doesn't bode well for seeing this device any earlier than the holiday shopping season.

Any update on these devices? I'm still curious about them, but after the big announcement, they seemed to disappear.

According to Engadget, notices were sent earlier this month to beta tester applicants informing them that the test units would ship to them in September. So it's definitely still an active project, but we probably won't hear anything else until September, and we won't get concrete sales details until quite a while after September.

Betas are going out. People are upset about lack of features. Sounds like it may do only TV, but not stream ripped movies.
But it's early. No one has actually touched hardware yet, it seems. I'm continuing to plan a media system for new house. I need an extender system to make it worthwhile.

For what it's worth, NewEgg just posted an initial product overview for the Ceton Echo:
Does anyone know if the Ceton Q is still in the works? I can no longer find any information about on the Ceton website.

Ah, never mind, just found the answer: Ceton Q is on hold due to rumors that Microsoft "is still unclear whether Media Center will be offered in the next version of Windows Embedded."
