I thought I would finally ask this question now that there are some of us with BR machines and titles to go along with it. Maybe you can mention which are the most fun/demo-worthy titles too. Here are mine .....

- 300
- 50 First Dates
- Aeon Flux
- Alien vs. Predator
- Annapolis
- The Ant Bully
- Apocalypto
- ATL
- Behind Enemy Lines
- Bridge To Terabithia
- The Brothers Grimm
- Casino Royale
- Chicken Little
- Chris Botti: Live
- The Corpse Bride
- Deja Vu
- The Devil Wears Prada
- Dreamgirls
- Eight Below
- Enemy Of The State
- Eragon
- Fantastic 4
- The Fifth Element - remastered
- Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
- Flags Of Our Fathers
- Flight Of The Phoenix
- Flightplan
- Flyboys
- The Fugitive
- The Guardian
- Happy Feet
- The Haunted Mansion
- Hellboy
- Ice Age: The Meltdown
- Into The Blue
- John Legend: Live At The House Of Blues
- King Arthur
- Kingdom Of Heaven
- A Knight's Tale
- Kung Fu Hustle
- Ladder 49
- The Last Samurai
- Legends Of Jazz Showcase
- The Messengers
- Mission: Impossible
- Mission: Impossible 2
- Mission: Impossible 3
- Monster House
- Night At The Museum
- Open Season
- Pearl Harbor
- Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl
- Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
- Planet Earth
- Planet Of The Apes (2001)
- The Prestige
- The Pursuit Of Happyness
- S.W.A.T.
- Sahara
- Sky High
- Space Cowboys
- Speed
- Stargate
- Stealth
- Superman Returns
- Terminator 2
- TMNT
- Total Recall
- Ultraviolet
- Vertical Limit
- Warriors Of Heaven And Earth
- The Wild
- World Trade Center
- X-Men: The Last Stand

I would like to give special mention to the Chris Botti disk, especially the audio which has been done in pcm 5.1 at 96khz, 24bit. I had read somewhere that the throughput for audio alone was 13.8Mbps. It sure shows when you actually sit down and listen to this. For music, my previous favourite demo was Legends Of Jazz which is no slouch either with DDtrueHD.

Let me also remind members to please discuss the subject without adding other un-needed comments about the 2 formats. I had to ban a member from participating in this thread for that very reason. This is all about BR titles folks. Thankyou

What are a couple of title that are 'WOW' inducing? I would like to get something to showoff the technology over the holidays.

The Wild is a nice showpiece especially for video that I used to show my guests just today how detailed the BR image can be.

I am not at home so I can not post a list of the BD disks I currently own. I do have a related question for now. Is there a simple why of determining which BD are 50gig versions? And would any one know why they all are not 50gig? Is it more expensive to do or more difficult to manufacture?

I currently have watched no 50 gig BDs but Black Hawk Down should be delivered today.

I have watched:

Tears of the Sun, not 50gig but very impressive none the less
Ant Bully also impressive
Fifth Element ok but not impressive
Some of T-2 looks good.

T-3 looks good but not at the top.

Still even 5th Element shows the potential of the medium.

I have Enemy of the State and Kingdom of Heaven on order as well as PH, all are 50gig BDs.

You know, with all the backlash against The Fifth Element (that is deserved) it still looks pretty darned good on my system and I was expecting worse the first time I viewed the disk.

To answer your question, it took a while to master the process of making BD50's, same as it did to make dual layer dvd's a few years back. Prior to this, everything was single layer. It would not surprise me if a few months from now, there are BD75's (who really knows these things). The current crop of BD50's are...

- Click
- Kingdom Of Heaven
- Superman Returns
- Blackhawk Down
- Enemy Of The State
- Superman: The Movie
- Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
- World Trade Center

- Flightplan
- Invincible
- Pearl Harbor
- The Sopranos: Season Six, Part One
- The Descent
- Crank
- Resident Evil: Apocalypse
- Casanova
- Chicago
- The Guardian
- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
- Saw II (Unrated)
- Glory

... the latter portion of this list is titles yet to come in the next 2 months or less.

Fifth Element (free in box of BDP-S1)
Kingdom Of Heaven
Lord Of War
Memento
Rising Sun
Speed
Terminator
Terminator 2
Total Recall

It should be noted that all WB and Paramount dual releases I have on HD DVD for the better audio.

My next BD will be Pearl Harbor.

I thought the audio was the same ^ and that BR just dropped the "plus" designator and the bitrate was the same. Please correct me if I am wrong though.

Haven't opened the PS3 I just bought so I don't know if it includes Talledega Nights.

I just ordered from Amazon:
Blackhawk Down
Mission: Impossible III
Kingdom of Heaven

And added a pile of titles to my Netflix queue. Yay Netflix!

All Warner titles are the same with the exception of the titles w/TruHD on the HD DVD version. The Paramount titles however are encoded at 1.5 mbps for DD+ and 640 kbps for regular DD and DTS.
