One of the most frequented threads on Home Theater Forum is about the question "What is the difference between a $17 and $150 HDMI cable?".

We asked this question to Kurt Denke of Blue Jeans Cable.

Kurt outlines that the price of a HDMI cable does not determine the quality of the cable.  A $150 HDMI cable could have been made with many of the same components as the $17 HDMI cable, also in the same factory.  If you just have a short HDMI cable run, that isn't daisy chained with other components, then there just isn't going to be a difference in HDMI cable.  Where you are going to start spending money is when you need high data transport and you need to go longer distances, including going through daisy chained components.

I won't go into all the Q&A, but this video is packed with incredible information, including taking a HDMI cable apart and showing you the differences between a $17 and $150 HDMI cable.  Kurt answers some additional questions about HDMI cable lengths, what "speed rating" do you need for your HDMI and the impact of your components (i.e. your display, computer graphics card) on the HDMI cable that you need.

This video will help you on your next HDMI purchase and I guarantee you that this is not a "spin" on a particular type of cable, it's just honest, straightforward information!
