Who else is in? My Samsung player is scheduled for delivery next week via Best Buy, tho I am skeptical it will actually ship that early. I've only pre-ordered 3 4K films. And I still do not own any 4K display devices. Hoping Sony's new 75" 940 model won't require me to sell plasma, either my blood or my existing set =p

I ordered the Samsung player from Best Buy, as well as 5 UHD movies from Fox Connect (on sale for $18.xx each with code). Really looking forward to see how they look! I have a 4K TV (Sony 65X900A) but it doesn't have HDR unfortunately. I'll get an HDR set (hopefully OLED) when prices come down in a year or two.

I'm waiting for an Oppo player to augment my BDP-103, so it will probably be next year for me, unless there are some super-awesome titles that come out and compel me to buy stopgap equipment, which, if Oppo releases in 2017, will be a tough sell for me. I would certainly need deep catalog titles from most or all of the majors (HDR or no HDR) to get me to upgrade before the Oppo, particularly as I'm out of the loop on display tech. I will probably go for a 2017 Panasonic OLED model, but I wish we could have seen a 4K Plasma TV, which, sadly, will probably never happen, at least not in a decent price range.

I got the same email. Hoping that Fox Connect ships my movies soon. Otherwise I'll have to go to BB Wednesday (or more likely, Thursday when they have stock) to pick out a couple of movies to tide me over.

Sure, I've read and posted in that thread, it's good general knowledge. This thread is for people who actually have ordered or own one of the UHD decks! =)
If it's for owners of UHD decks then why is it in the BD/UHD media area and not in hardware area?

If this is an utterly ignorant question, please forgive me, but are the new UHD players going to be backwards compatible for DVD and BRD? Just want to make sure I can have a jack-of-all-trades player once I finally have the budget for one.

Yes. DVD is not required in the UHD BD player specs, but the early models will have it (and IMO quite obviously too, since DVD is still so popular and so many people own DVDs even if they no longer buy them).

If there are no region codings on UHD discs will the players also be multi-region for blu-ray play?
So far there are no region codings on UHD discs. As to the players playing multi-region blu-rays, somebody else more knowledgeable will have to answer that question.

At present titles are licensed for blu-ray release in different territories and may be region coded. Do these licenses cover UHD releases and therefore will titles which are currently region coded be precluded from UHD release until the licenses expire?

Considering that Lionsgate and Shout! are producing UHD BDs when they lock their Blu-rays, I would say this is a non-issue right now. The UHD format is going to be very niche for the rest of 2016, so I imagine deals can be re-negotiated for these upgrades without too much trouble.

All UHD BD players will be ready to enforce online authentication on any discs that require it. It's probably why region coding won't be necessary and thus wasn't included. If/when the format becomes successful enough then we could very well see this at some point. It would be just a one-time thing though for each player and disc. Once they "know" each other, then you'll be able to play that particular movie offline thereafter.

BB shipped my player today, hopefully we'll have discs by the end of the week or early next week.

People are getting emails that their Fox discs will be shipped (or received) by Monday. So we won't have much longer to wait for the discs either...at least the Fox ones. I'm going to be checking BB daily to see if they have them (or I might check stock online..).
