I've said this before but it's worth repeating: the restoration of GOG would not have happened if Kino Lorber had not secured the available region one license from MGM.
We've tried tor years to get this restored and got nowhere with the studio. Richard Lorber is to be applauded for recognizing our goals/Mission Statement and working with us to license available 3-D titles for restoration.
Our usual schedule is three months per feature; GOG took five and was our most challenging restoration. Kino was with us every step of the way in order to make it happen. Don't blame them if the studio could not offer a region free license. Who knows what legal issues with the copyright prevented that from happening?
I'm just grateful that after more than 60 years, people will finally see this film the way it was intended to be seen in 3-D, color and widescreen. Having grown up with flat, black and white open-matte and murky 16mm prints on TV, this new master is a revelation!
