    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

If I‘d only watched criticcally appraised and/or Oscar movies my movie life would be poor for it. I find good qualities in lots of movies both good and ‘’bad‘’. There are lots of great and good movies outside of the critically lauded ones. Jacques Tourneur didn’t win a single Oscar, but he...

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Announcement: Spinout (1966) (Blu-ray)

I own almost all the Elvis movies (I want Loving You and in HD). This is not one of his best, but it‘s quite enjoyable. Plus it has Shelley Fabares :) I’ll order it for sure.

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Announcement: Wichita (1955) (Blu-ray)

Another Tourneur movie on Blu-ray is great news! I collect his movies. Joel McCrea is one of my favourite actors. I own the dvd, but would gladly upgrade this excellent western to Blu. And Vera Miles too. That’s a plus.

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - The Night of the Hunter -- in 4k UHD

I don’t love grain. I love movies. I hate the scrubbing of grain to the point where people look waxy. I watched TNOTH twice in a cinema in Oslo ca. 2003. I don’t remember the film format, but it was not in 2.35:1 and it looked fantastic. I can’t remember how it sounded, but I had no complaints...

Which Single Movie Of Your Collection Gets The Most Long Term Replay ?

My favourite movies are not the ones I watch the most. Some of them I don‘t want to spoil by overwatching. Years go by before watching a fav. It keeps them kinda fresh. The light entertainment movies tend to be the ones I watch over and over. Here‘s some light ones which come to mind: All...

International Congo Crossing (1956) German Blu-ray (as Blutroter Kongo)

I got the German Congo Crossing (1956) Blu a while ago. I think the transfer looked great on my 42 inch LCD TV. It was shot in Technicolor, but the colors looked a bit muted from what I can remember. Nothing that hindered my enjoyment, though. Was it a Superscope movie? Edit: According to...

International THE LAST SUNSET- Hudson/Douglas on Blu Ray

I bought the german Blu from Universal / Black Hill Pictures GMBH / WVG Medien GMBH (which I posted a picture of a bit further up.) It's the same overly DNR'ed transfer mentioned earlier. When will this be done right on Blu?

Press Release Warner Archive Press Release: Great Day in the Morning (1956) (Blu-ray)

I watched the movie tonight and the cropping looked a bit tight in the upper portion of the image during close ups. The color red was a on the hot side of the spectrum, but it wasn't bothersome. It may be Tourneur's weakest western, but it's still a very good movie. I find Robert Stack's...

Press Release Warner Archive Press Release: Great Day in the Morning (1956) (Blu-ray)

It's always good to see a Jacques Tourneur movie on DVD, even better on Blu-ray! I've waited for a proper release of this film, in Superscope, for many years. I got it today and sampled the opening. So far it looks great :) I've "always" enjoyed Virginia Mayo, it's a pity her screen time is...
