I have that triple feature DVD too, and I watched it back in 2011. I would like to see Colt .45 (the movie) again before I delve into the series, but I sure wish it was in HD. Not saying it needs to be an Archive Blu-ray, but upgrading it to HD in iTunes would be nice...
Fandango at Home (Vudu) has 100 MGM titles on sale to celebrate MGM’s 100th Anniversary. There are four titles that F@H has exclusively in 4K that you can take advantage of picking up for $5 each.
Some Like it Hot (4K HDR)
The Apartment (4K)
Fistful of Dollars (4K)
For a Few Dollars More (4K)
But if it redeems in 4K in MA, and the mapping to iTunes is still to an HD version, that will eventually get fixed. I don’t think anyone redeeming a 4K code though MA has ever permanently been screwed out of 4K.
The Fanflix deals of Warner titles redeem in Movies Anywhere so you are stuck with whatever resolution they redeem at. There are no free upgrades going that route.
Thank you. That answers my question. None of those (except Kane) are available in 4K digital. Oh well, I guess Warner and Criterion can go on rewarding physical media buyers and ignore a major source of potential revenue.
I know Warner has licensed to Criterion before, but have they ever licensed a 4K release to Criterion? I'm asking because I wonder if this means that there will be no 4K digital of Risky Business.
One From the Heart (Reprise edition) is now available on iTunes a month early and in 4K/DV. Since this is Coppola’s new cut of the film, I don’t expect the old listing will get a 4K upgrade.
So if I'm reading you right, this would be contemporary movies that became "historical" in that they captured the contemporary time so precisely that we now see them as historical records.
Just a few off the top of my head would be:
It Happened One Night
The Clock
The Apartment
The Graduate

iTunes has a Woody Allen 8 film bundle on sale for $9.99. Too good to pass up for me. Only caveat, Anything Else is in the wrong aspect ratio, it’s 1.78:1 when it should be 2.35:1.
included:
Anything Else
Bullets Over Broadway
Celebrity
Curse of the Jade Scorpion
Everyone Says I Love You...
Where did you buy it? I bought it on Vudu so I didn't get a free upgrade. I'm hoping at some point I'll have an opportunity to repurchase in 4K. But in the meantime we still have the new transfer in HD on iTunes.
