According to this article, Microsoft hasn't even begun manufacturing units yet. It's looking more and more like the upcoming war may be a two man battle...Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft has a lot of work to do to stay in the game.

MS doesn't make consoles and never has, so it makes sense that they don't know what they're doing. I've been saying that for a long time.
The Guadalajara plant in Mexico is now producing units at around 100k a week. Thats a nice number, but Nintendo already has hundreds of thousands of units available in Japan. Nintendo has always been ahead of MS, which kinda gives them the upper hand (the US launch is after the XB, but the XB launch is WAY after the Japanese launch of the GCN).

People were saying the exact same things about Sony in 95. They did pretty well for themselves though.

By the time the X-Box is released in America, Nintendo will have millions of GameCubes made already. They are making some for the American launch, plus they are shipping more consoles around Japan each week. Nintendo has a leg up in this sense.
Sony did well with the PlayStation because of the games, mainly Final Fantasy VII. Without its games, it would have lost. MS is just making hardware, we haven't heard much about stellar software.
