If I wanted to use the original Sony 777es SACD/CD as a transport, what dacs should I look into? Please keep the suggestions under $3k.

Ricky,
It has been my understansing that the 777ES is a very good red book CD player in it's own right. If I were looking for better performance I would look at getting the 777ES modded or maybe get a Perpetual Tech P1-A/P3-A combo with the room correction software.
