Given the critical response, wouldn't Thanksgiving be a better release date for this turkey?

I didn't know what this was when it came out in theaters in February. It turns out this film was shot all the way back in 2014 and was held up ever since by various issues involving distributor changes and such. I hear it is terrible, but I'm almost curious to see it just to see what the heck the fuss was over. I'm certainly not going to buy it but may do a low price rental once the current PVOD pricing drops down to more normal levels.
