UGH! Universal does a P & S treatment on THE PROMISE! (1 Viewer)

OK, I know it isn't a film for everyone (I was forced into watching it decades ago, but it holds a nostalgic charm), and hope it's OK to mention this, but I read a review over at dvdtalk that in their recent Danielle Steele DVD collection, in it contains THE PROMISE, a 1979 film that was shot in Panavision (scope 2:35), and the reviewer mentions it is in P & S (and grainy to boot!). I don't understand Universal, whats with all this P & S on scope pictures (FORBIN PROJECT, ICEMAN, PROMISE)?? I'm losing half the image!

My guess is they're probably not springing for new transfers.
