This show has had a couple of releases, albeit on labels that specialize in releasing public domain material. Alpha Video has two volumes, each with four episodes. Volume 1 contains the pilot episode (the only one filmed in the US). I have both of the Alpha volumes and thought that the visual quality was good for a show that's nearly 50 years old; certainly these are among Alpha's better classic TV releases. The other release is a two-disc set from Platinum Disc Corporation that includes 5 episodes on each disc. I haven't seen this so I can't comment on the visual quality but I'm guessing that the Platinum logo appears from time-to-time in the bottom right hand corner, as is the case with many of their classic TV releases. BestBuy.com has all of these releases currently available (search under "Hawkeye"). Given the age of this show and the fact that it was only on for a year, this is likely as good as it's going to get for this series.

Oops! I forgot to (also) include to my wish list:

THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (CBS 1955-60),

THE INVISIBLE MAN (CBS 1958-59, 1960),

MCHALE'S NAVY (ABC 1962-66) and

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. (NBC 1964-68).

Pertaining to the LAST OF THE MOHICANS (CBC 1957-58) thanks for all the info on those various budget video outlets but this favourite 1950s tv series distributed in tv syndication by ITC PRODUCTIONS (ie. DANGER MAN, THE SAINT, THE PRISONER et el) may just make it onto a high grade DVD collection yet. Look at the number of other ITC tv shows that have released thus far!

Hope springs eternal!

This one has had an official UK release of the entire series from a British Company called Network, but all episodes released in the US and Canada are from PD companies with varying quality. I've seen a bunch of these releases and thought that Alpha Video and the first few volumes from Critics Choice had the best looking episodes. The Timeless Media Group (Marathon Music & Video) just recently released what they are calling season 1, but it's actually the first 30 of the 39 season 1 episodes and, consequently, I'm guessing that this is probably just another (though more complete) public domain collection.

The Adventures Of Ozzie and Harriet (1952-1966) 435 episodes. A few episodes have fallen into the public domain and are available on very poor quality budget discs. It would be great to see a high quality release of this classic series.

Much of what's listed above is on my list too. Here are a few more that aren't listed above, in no particular order:

House Calls (1979-1982/58Eps) - Wayne Rogers & Lynn Redgrave/Sharon Gless

Cover Up (1984-1985/22Eps) - Jennifer O'Neill & Jon-Erik Hexum

10-8 (2003-2004/16Eps) - Danny Nucci & Ernie Hudson. 1 Episode was never aired. Yet another great show that never had a chance.

Hart to Hart (1979-1984/110Eps) - Robert Wagner & Stefanie Powers - Also ran 9 movies after the series end from 1993-1996.

Scarecrow & Mrs. King (1983-1987/88Eps) - Kate Jackson & Bruce Boxleitner

Snoops (1999/13Eps) - Gina Gershon. 3 episodes never aired. Another of the many shows I really liked that never made it. :frowning:

Eyes (2005/9Eps) - Tim Daly. 4 episodes remain unaired. I guess I owe the cast and crews of new shows an apology...apparently if I really like the show it'll be cancelled.

The Fall Guy (1981-1986/113Eps) - Lee Majors

One of the local public television stations in my area recently started broadcasting an Australian crime series that’s excellent, titled “Water Rats.” It’s about the water police who patrol Sydney Harbor and is very much character driven. Save, perhaps, Colin Friels, the Australian cast would largely be unfamiliar to US audiences. I’d love to see this get a Region 1 release, but I seriously doubt that a “foreign” series like this has much of a chance unless some small niche releasing company takes it on.

Probably dozens more I can't think of right now...! I love primetime soaps and want 'em all, especially the shorter lived ones listed above. Anyone else love "Savannah??" And why the hell goodies like the Addam's Family and Wild Wild West aren't out yet is beyond me. They were on home video... Of all the above, the ones I want the MOST are "Mama's Family" for the sitcoms, and "Savannah" for the soaps. But jeez, I'd buy all that stuff, even if it all came out on the same day!
