I missed out on this, but was there any thread here on this kickstarter from Redwood Creek Films about the restoration of this Tod Browning film ? Was the kickstarter just to get an early release and then the blu ray will be sold on the general market ?

I saw a bit of this on TCM yesterday. It looked great. Apparently it’s already been restored.

If you didn't back the Kickstarter campaign, it sounds like you're out of luck. From the Kickstarter page:

The Show has never been released in blu-ray before. In 2023, thanks to a new 4K transfer from a 16 mm print, the first 4K restoration of Tod Browning’s classic became possible. The Blu-ray won’t be available elsewhere, it’s a Kickstarter exclusive!

Or in luck.

Why would anyone bother? WB has beautiful 35 material, fully preserved. You might want to check out the track record of the “restoring” entity.

One must presume that it will appear via Warner Archive.

For the record, there is no such thing as a “Blu-ray restoration.”

Blu-ray is merely a digital bucket for holding stuff.

Agreed. Blu-ray is like .avi, given it can hold multiple types of material.

Final hours! Thank you all for the support. This our last update to promote our new restoration. What a journey!
The Show was called "one of the most thrilling films ever made... [Browning's] best film to date" (Los Angeles Record). "If you have nerves prepare to shed them at the door...It has twists and turns more tangled than a volt of lightning" (Los Angeles Herald).
THE SHOW (1927) restored for the first time in 4K! New 4K transfer and new soundtrack. Last call to secure your very own - exclusive Kickstarter Blu-ray! Go down in silent cinema history, support the restoration and get your name in the ending credits.
Thank you again and see you at the sideshow.
