I have Sony CDP-CX400 & CX455 400 disc CD players connected. I have noticed an issue with the CX455 mixing up artist information on discs. After a period of time (used to be months, but now it’s happening more frequently). The album information remains correct to the disc slot, but the artist information that was assigned at the same time when the disc was added, has changed to a different artist.
I thought it was a power issue, like it was losing its internal memory if the unit was disconnected from mains power for too long. But the issue is happening even when power has remained connected and it’s occurred with a batch of discs I added only yesterday.
I’m wondering if there is an internal battery or cap that is responsible for holding this info that could be replaced?

If there is an internal battery, I would think it would be mentioned in the owner’s manual. Regardless, it should be easy to pop to cover and see if you can find one – shouldn’t be hard. However, changing it may well lose all the info.
