Hamlet? Hmm, interesting. Yes, I do think I know what I'll be watching tonight.

"And, not being argumentative here, really, but Bill, just what hidden sex message are you referring to? I really haven't deen LK since it came out, and don't recall anything like that, except that Scar was, um, slightly flamboyant."
Somewhere in LK there is some dust up in the air, and in one single frame some people like think that the dust forms the letters SEX. Actually, it looks more like SFX. This can be seen on the CAV laserdisc, but I can't remember the frame number right now...

Ben,
I certainly don't see your question as argumentative. In fact I think the "sex scene" in the Lion King is rather funny. Here's a vidcap of it:

The letters were formed by pollen or dust that Simba disturbed when he plopped himself down on the ground.
There's other such "hidden porn" from other Disney movies here: Link Removed

Hamlet? Hmm, interesting.
It's just the basic plot outline involving a prince whose King father is killed by his brother, has communications from beyond the grave with his father, and is befuddled into a period of inactivity & uncertainty before finally confronting his uncle. Nothing that really adds depth or resonance through more subtle connections.
Regards,

Seems pretty clear cut to me Ken, don't know how I missed it. Not that I'm a big Shakespeare fan, but I certainly am aware of the basic stories.
Thanks for the screen shot Bill, very funny! Good, insighful view-point there too.

The music in soup will be in pencil. They showed the preview on the site (before taking it down?) And knowing Disney, I wouldn't be surprised if they edited out the SEX dust.

Two points. Kids are certainly allowed to pray in school and the vast majority do so before every test. :) True, the school can't have officially sanctioned group prayer, but that's Pharisees stuff anyway and most Christians who understand it wouldn't want it, only the fundamentalists who don't get it.
Second, there is no way in hell that Disney is not going to release a money maker like the Lion King eventually. Heck, if Song of the South would make as much money as Lion King is going to, they'd even release that.

Back to the original subject, Digital Bits reports that Disney took the 1992 restoration as a starting point and did additional work to remove the film grain. They also used original cells to determine the correct color so that the film's look is now as good or even better than the original.

I just took the virtual tour of this on Disney's site, and I am very excited abou this release.
Wow, looks like Disney is finally going to do it right.
I think that this may be the biggest release of the year, even with TPM coming out.
Who else thinks this may be the years best seller?

I'm not here to bring up the widescreen vs fullframe issue again but was Snow White originally done in widescreen? If so, is the DVD also going to be widescreen?

No. Snow White, like most movies made prior to the mid-50s, was filmed in the acedemy ratio, which is aprroximately the same as your standard 4:3 television ratio.

I believe Lady and the Tramp was Disney's first widescreen release.
Not only do you get all those features but if you pre-order with a particular B&M store in Canada you get your choice of 1 freebie Disney DVD as well. There's only 6 to choose from and the selection isn't stellar (although, Little Mermaid is one of the choices. Considering its platinum release date and that Disney DVD's go for around $30 CDN that's not a bad choice for the kids (and me)). It's a good deal all around.
