New Line is still around, but they are now part of Warner Bros. The last movie they distributed on their own was Semi-Pro in 2008.

Maybe he meant the last film New Line produced before being sold to Warner? I'm not sure exactly when the purchase took effect, maybe it was earlier than 1998?

On another note, I used to have this on DVD: It was part of one of those "buy a DVD player and get five free movies" promos they used to do back in the format's early days. I think I watched the movie once, but couldn't quite bring myself to watch it again.

Time Warner acquired Turner Broadcasting in 1996. They had the "A Time Warner Company" byline on the New Line logo as early as the first Austin Powers in April 97.

Yup. "LiS" is objectively a pretty lousy movie, but it doesn't take itself seriously and it's enough fun to make it watchable.

I'd rather hold out for a 4k. Every time I buy an "upgraded" blu these days, the 4k comes along in a year or so.

My recollection is that Lost in Space had some pretty shabby CGI that, without doing some expensive re-rendering or upscaling, would likely look even worse in 4k.
