Walter Olsen, founder of boutique Blu-ray label Scorpion Releasing, has passed away of an undisclosed illness.

Mr. Olsen was an active participant on the Home Theater Forum for many years, posting as "walt o". He and his brother William "Bill" Olsen, who also passed earlier this year, were true pioneers of the industry. Each started their own home video labels and were busy releasing eclectic and oddball obscurities right up until the end. Walt was perhaps a bit less active, actually, due to his debilitating illness, but both were equally passionate about movies and physical media as many of us are. They will be greatly missed.

One of my favorite Scorpion titles is their widescreen DVD of Mae West's hilariously awful Sextette. It's the only version that's actually watchable, and they went to the trouble to make their own exclusive special features. I hope it makes the leap to blu ray.
