Percentage-wise, that's a really good hold for The Martian, so good word-of-mouth is helping it.

Pan is an odd movie to open in October, unless the studio was really not all that high on it at all. Maybe it does better in the Thanksgiving holidays, but with Hunger Games opening a week before the holidays, not as many screens for Pan.

The Walk just didn't get much of a marketing push, plus, I think it's a hard sale to the general public.

I was hoping "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" would be doing better internationally, to ensure the next film moves ahead. Though it hasn't opened in a few of the bigger markets yet (like China and Japan), so maybe it'll end up over $300 million.

Then again, the budget for this series so far has been relatively modest by today's standard for FX-driven films (I think they only spent $95 million combined to produce the first two films), so they don't need a billion-dollar gross to be profitable.
