proplems with my DVD player...... (1 Viewer)

I have a sony DVD player that doesn't like to "read DVDS" i put in audio cds no proplems. This mostly happens when I by a new one or borrow one its so wierd. Ater several opening and closing of the DVD tray door it will Play. This is time consuming and annoying. I have cleaned it serveral times and even taken the top of to see if the lens was damged from moving, it was fine. Anyother suggestions would be greatly appreated thanks.

Bob,
Is the DVD Player by chance a DVP S-360 or any of the early
Sony DVD Players? Some of them are known to have problems
reading DVD's (Or so I read) and when they fail to read the
DVD it will show something like E:13 on the display.
I never had any of these problems with my DVP S-360 and it
played well over 200 DVD's.

Sony can and will fix it, but they charge something like

I had the same problems with my Sony 560. It would pause and jump back a chapter or two righ in the middle of the movie. So anoying! I quit playing audio CD's in it and it has worked fine since. Maybe it is a coincidence, but you may want to try quiting playing audio cd's in it for a while and see if that helps.
