PL. suggest a prog. scan player (1 Viewer)

Hello all,
I need a progressive scan player

. MY TV is the Tosh TN61X81 RPTV. Here are the points.
1.) I have to decide between the JVC and Sony Models.
(I have read the DVD shoot out at secrets and they seem to like both JVC and Sony)
2.) IF JVC, I need to decide between the single disk or carousel models.
(I have heard about some problems in the changer transport mechanicals on the & disk)
3.) I'm not too crazy about DVD-A. However, elctronic equipment in my house typically does not go bad and I have a lot of difficulty buying new stuff when the old one still funcions.

( I still have an NEC mono VCR from 1988, my Technics SA-GX335 prologic rec.,

). SO, if DVD-A will flourish in the next year or so, I may need it.
4) Best of all, through my collected bonus points in my Sony card, I can get the Sony for free.
So, should I get the Sony (free) or pay $250 to get the JVC 7 disk?

I would never turn down anything that is free, but I have read on this forum that some Sony players have reliability problems. You may want to research this a bit.
I own a JVC and am very pleased with its performance.
