I actually like this older poster from when the movie was scheduled to open in 2020 better than the one they're using now for the disc cover artwork.

Also...$50 SRP for the 4K 2-pack? Really? Amazon has the first movie 4K for $14.96. They'd have to do a pretty extreme price drop on the 2-pack to make it less expensive than buying them separately.

by now the discs should be in production and the technical specs should be clear to be open to public interests...

...should the film is still in process of transfer, or not yet, i think we should let the homevideo division knows about what consumers may expect. consistent AR presentation. cropping of 2.35:1 image to IMAX ratio of 1.95:1 will gain some support,

...while some other purists expansive visual experience is always traditionally horizontal.

different region releases may have different coverart. i prefer what you attached here...its just that the image of the WW2 “retired” plane...doesn't blends well with TG2...

on the price of the dual feature 4K pack, i wouldn't deny that that's “extorbitant” by using the new sequel to bring up the value of the old transfer, which was released when? 5? 7yrs ago?
but if that price applies to “transitional package” which packs UHD discs of both TG1&2, FHD discs of TG1&2, it will be justifiable even if its going to be tagged @ €50.

will be excited how would you react to the scene in commander cabin debriefing, where after that traumatic encounter, both Cougar and Commander lost their foreheads 😁

First post updated with official press release from Paramount

I have to add here...

I just preordered the Double Feature 4k disc.

However, I really hate the way Paramount is killing the disc market by releasing the digital version next week and the physical disc in 2.5 months.

I am really tempted just to cancel the disc and pay for the digital 4k stream.

The movie is still bringing in pretty good box office receipts as it gets closer to 700M domestically. This might be Cruise's biggest box office movie.

Edit: Damn, it already went over 700M in foreign markets. This is by far Cruise's biggest box office hit.

I understand that part.

Will you be able to own it on digital come August 23rd or is it rental only?

If it's the latter, that makes sense. If you can own it, you might as well be able to own the disc at the same time, I would think.

That’s a larger disparity than usual, but most new release films are available for digital purchase about a month before the disc comes out - it’s been that way for almost a decade now with most titles.

Wonder if they’re holding the disc until then to take advantage of the holiday season.

A day one purchase, and a great experience to see on Imax. Are the features for this film final? I recall a interview with the director stating he had a few deleted scenes he wanted to share.

Don't know, I preordered this back in June, when Target had it listed during one of their "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" sales.
