THE LOST CITY synopsis
Loretta Sage’s (Sandra Bullock) novels are filled with ancient tombs and daring adventures, but that doesn’t mean she’s prepared for them in real life. When she is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) to locate a legendary lost city, Loretta's handsome cover model, Alan (Channing Tatum), sets off on a heroic but hapless rescue mission. Thrust into an epic thrill-ride through the jungle, the unlikely pair must work together to survive the elements, and survive each other, to find the city's fabled treasure before it’s lost forever.

It certainly shares some elements in common with Romancing the Stone but I wouldn't call it a remake of Romancing the Stone.

Agreed it is more, yet seems to have aspects from it. Female novelist, ecsaping the real world in her novels, being sucked into a real world adventure...

According to the cover images, the 4K copy does not include a 4k Blu-ray to be backwards compatible. That is unusual, especially for a brand new film. This setup wouldn't allow current Blu-ray users to future proof without making two purchases.

I'm going to hold off a bit and see if there is a steelbook release somewhere.

Yeah, Paramount generally does this. There may be some exceptions but off the top of my head, Scream (1996), Scream (2022), The Godfathers and Indiana Jones only come with a UHD and no Blu-ray.

I don't think I'd pay full price for this on release week. But it was a fun movie. So maybe I'll get it after a price drop.

It's definitely a trend from Paramount - next week's "Infinite" lacks a Blu-ray, as does the 4K issue of "Beverly Hills Cop 2" due next week.

Has anybody seen this movie besides Jake and Colin? I plan on watching it on Paramount+ either tomorrow or the next day.

Yeah, it’s a fun little popcorn movie - a little bit of action, little bit of comedy, little bit of stupidity, nothing particularly memorable but a nice two hour escape. I don’t regret seeing it in theaters but don’t need to see it again either.

My wife and I watched it shortly after it premiered on Paramount+ and were entertained.
I think Josh pretty much nails it with his reaction, but I can see watching it again and being entertained by it down the road. I’d even like to see it get a sequel!

I wanted to bump this thread because as of this writing, Amazon has slashed the price of the 4K edition to $9.99. I don't know how long this sale will last but thought it would be worth posting here in case anyone is interested.

There has been no corresponding price drop for the Blu-ray release, which is still listed at $21.99.

If Paramount included a standard Blu-ray with their 4K releases like most other studios, I would probably go ahead and buy the 4K release at that price. Because it is a 4K disc only, they are losing a potential sale on this from me.

even though there are action scenes to entertain, this film is generally classified into the genre as “Adventure Rom Com” which is enough to stand along with Romancing the Stones, Fools Gold, as well as Jungle Cruise.

it’s probably not the disc package that fails to attract buyers to keep it’s value up. but rather... the genre.
