CELEBRATE 35 YEARS OF THE BEST DAY OFF EVER

image002.jpg

Limited-Edition 35th Anniversary Blu-ray™ Steelbook Arrives June 8, 2021

Blu-ray
Steelbooks of Pretty In Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful Also Debut June 8

Writer/director John Hughes’ seminal comedy about a high school student’s wild adventures in the Windy City during a single, glorious day off continues to be enjoyed, quoted and revered 35 years after its theatrical debut. Originally released on June 11, 1986, FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF captures the uproarious antics of Ferris and his friends as they relish the freedom of being not quite grown up.

In celebration of the film’s 35th anniversary, Paramount Home Entertainment will release a FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF Limited-Edition Blu-ray Steelbook on June 8, 2021, which includes access to a digital copy of the film, as well as the following legacy bonus content:

  • · Getting the Class Together: The Cast of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
  • · The Making of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
  • · Who is Ferris Bueller?
  • · The World According to Ben Stein
  • · Vintage Ferris Bueller: The Lost Tapes
  • · Class Album

Matthew Broderick stars as the delightfully charming Ferris who, with his girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara) and best bud Cameron (Alan Ruck), ditches school to enjoy one perfect day as a kid with no responsibilities. In 2014, FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF was added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry, which serves as a compendium of films that have been judged to be culturally, aesthetically or historically important.
Two more John Hughes classics will arrive in Blu-ray Steelbooks on June 8: Pretty In Pink, which also celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, and Some Kind of Wonderful. Both films were written by Hughes and directed by Howard Deutch. The Steelbooks include access to digital copies of the films, as well as previously released bonus content.

I was hoping this would get a 4k release, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Think May, Robert.

The entire Hughes Collection, all newly harvested in 4k from the original negatives, and inclusive a of a plethora of new and old extras.

4k, Blu-ray, digital codes and DVDs - a 43-disc set, in a huge steel case, a la GoT.

And priced at $16.99 for the set!

My DVD has commentary by John Hughes... this doesn't ??
Yeah, I’ve always been curious why this old commentary was never in any following release. Anyone know why? Did Paramount forget that it existed as it was a very early DVD release that could have easily been a typical barebones disc?

Well... if that's true... it's a shame...I would much rather hear him instead of the endless blather about 'how everyone was so great to work with'..... and since he has passed away... it would be an important historical artifact... imho.....i'm glad I see have the version with his thoughts

I just tried to order this from Amazon via the link above and via the Amazon app. It appears to not be available. It’s not a Disney title, so I don’t imagine it’s part of the Amazon/Disney feud.

Specifically, Amazon shows the 35th Anniversary Edition and it’s a steelbook. Perhaps it’s because it’s a steelbook? But I have not found a non steelbook version that’s the 35th Anniversary. Best Buy shows it available.

Edit, I see now that Amazon says it’s temporarily out of stock.

Oh yeah.

I sure hope this gets the 4k treatment.

Been putting off the purchase of the blu ray version for a while now in anticipation this will get released on UHD.

Is this new release going to be the same transfer as previous releases or a new undertaking?

I have FBDO in the HMV exclusive VHS edition:

It appears to have exactly the same content as the steelbook so nothing much to shout about here.

This is a bit of an aside but has anyone here seen Taking Care of Business? It stars James Belushi and Charles Grondin and it's kind of like FBDO meets Trading Places. Very funny and under-rated film and you can tell that the people who made it liked their John Hughes.

I have not seen Taking Care Of Business but was recently looking at that on IMDB and deciding if it was worth a watch.

Decided against it but I will give it a watch now.

I'm assuming this 35th anniversary release is the same transfer as others?

Nobody answered my post so I am assuming it is.
