I'm using a Marantz SR-7200 reciever with the Energy Encore system...How come the subwoofer does not output any bass, when I'm playing a CD in 2CH stereo using S-Direct on? When I have S-Direct turned off, the bass comes out find on the Subwoofer...but the music is not as nice in S-Direct mode.

Because that is the definition of Source-Direct within a Marantz receiver/prepro, full-range stereo with the mains only.

That duplicates my experience with the Source-Direct mode when I owned the Marantz SR-8000 and then the AV-9000.
