In order of merit:

1.Life Is Beautiful (1997) ***
2.Johnny Stecchino (1991) ***
3.Pinocchio (2002) **

Roberto Benigni unnacountably took Hollywood by storm with his overrated LIFE IS BEAUTFUL; his best actor Oscar was especially undeserved since he repeated his trademark wacky characterization and basically played himelf. The gangster spoof JOHNNY STECCHINO, then, was Italy's box-office champ of its year of release. Recently, Benigni was in Malta to receive a doctorate from our University and, later, recite his beloved Dante cantos and the events were even a news item.
