I bought my TV earlier this year and have notice the dark levels get rather washed out on bright scenes. I've done a little reading and it seems that putting a lining of duvetyne or black felt on the inside of the TV will cure the problem. I called a couple factory authorized service centers about the issue and they have no clue what I am talking about, so I am considering doing it myself. My question is, has anyone here done this before? I've found a couple posts about people doing it to different models, but I would really like to hear from someone that has experience removing the screen on this particular model. I've felt around the edge of the screen and did a slight bit of tugging, but I'm afraid to force anything. I see no obvious releases/fastening points. Does anyone have any advice for my situation? I'd really like the deep dark contrast that I know would be possible with the installation of this lining on the inside. Thanks for any help.

David,
I can not say with certainty that my way will work since my
TV is a completely diffrent company. I have an RCA RPTV and
I wanted to add a sheild over the Freschnell Lens and I did
not want one of those cheesy $300.00 velcro on Super Sheilds
so I decided to tear my screen apart.. On my model there is
an acoustic fabric (speaker cloth) covered grill along the
whole bottom of the TV and when you gently pull it comes off
like any other speaker grill (rubber plugs in the cabinent)
after the grill is removed this exposed 4 screws that I took
out and then I could simply lift the whole front trim up and
off of the TV set.
Yours may be similar.
