I bought a Mitsubishi WS-55313 55" WS RPTV today at Best Buy. Decided to do it because I had a 10% off coupon, all Mitsubishis were 2 years no interest AND I got the RewardZone points on it. Only $1890 (including tax, but not including other accessories I needed, like component cables) for the TV into my house with next-day delivery, plus enough RZ points for ~13.5 certificates.

This is my first widescreen and first RPTV and I'm so excited!!! I was so excited I paid $20 extra for next day delivery, so it's gonna be here today (Saturday) sometime between 3 and 5pm.

I was actually thinking of going for the 48", but it was my wife who convinced me to pay the extra and go with the 55" after we figured out TV and furniture placement based on each size. You would have either laughed or sympathized after seeing me go crazy with the tape measure showing my wife where the top and bottom of the screen would be off the ground and how wide the picture would be for 1.33, 1.85 and 2.35 movies. This thing is gonna dwarf the 27" TV it's replacing. :D

And on Thursday afternoon, we're getting the HDTV cable box, so it looks like the Super Bowl party will be at our house this year.

Need to get a couple more clients to make up for the extra money I'll be spending on the HT equipment the next couple years. I'm sure upgraditis will set in on my receiver, speakers and subwoofer soon enough.

I'm looking at buying the exact TV from Best Buy later this year. Though, I am still considering the 65".

There's no way we could have fit the 65" on that wall and still had room for speakers and components. We had to do a pretty creative shuffle just to get it tow work without buying an A/V rack.

And the TV arrived just a few minutes after 3pm. I had spent the whole morning rearranging and reconnecting things and getting the space ready. Unfortunately, some of my cables are no longer long enough because some components are farther apart. I'll need to go out and buy some more cables.

But the first thing I did after making sure it worked and turning down the sharpness and contrast was to switch my DVD player to 16x9 mode for the very first time and I popped in Spider-Man.

My wife is in awe at the size of the picture.

I'll do a basic calibration tomorrow, but I'm waiting on the arrival of DVE so I can do it right.
