I know I saw a thread on this subject awhile ago, but can't find it now for the life of me.
The new JVC DVD players (XV-723, XV-S65, etc.) all do auto-scaling of properly-flagged non-anamorphic DVDs for those using 16x9 displays. Some DVDs are poorly flagged, however, and one must zoom the image manually.
When one does the manual zoom, the words "zoom 2x" or whatever appear in the upper left corner of the screen. Normally, this can be resolved by pressing the "return" button (on the XV-723) or by selecting an invalid chapter (i.e. 39) on the XV-S65. Has anyone figured out a way to get rid of the on-screen zoom text where the chapters of the DVD go right up to 39?

My oh so exciting DVD collection.
