Hoontech DB II Fried 2 SB Lives!! (1 Viewer)

I tried installing the DB II and it fried 2 soundblaster lives! (4780) This card is the one that came with a brand new dimension 8100 1.5ghz. I pulled the jumpers off the back of the sb, and used a straight ide (40pin) cable to connect to the db ii. I smelled burning plastic, and the sb then proceeded to cause a system lockup when starting the machine (win2kserver). I tried it again with another sblive and the computer wouldnt even power on. I have the red stripe on the ide cable pointing to the triangle on the sb and the db, so that is ok. Does anyone have any advice?
