I'd just like to add Josef von Sternberg. What I wouldn't give for a good quality DVD of The Scarlet Empress, along with the likes of Morocco, The Devil is a Woman and Shanghai Express.

Also, W.C. Fields' absence from our favourite format is conspicuous and deeply felt. There's Sally of the Sawdust and Six of a Kind on that triple-bill disc, and the two Criterion DVDs, but there's a whole slate of half-baked masterpieces still waiting to come onto DVD.

This is the one Criterion that I have issues about the transfer. We can always hope that they wind up doing it per their usual standard.

I don't think I've seen Jean-Luc Godard on here yet. I have to second Renoir, Melville, and Lubitsch.
