Ok, I know we are all tired of multiple releases of films on The Great Format, but admit there are some films in dire need of a brand spanking new transfer of which I don't mind The Studios milking me for. Warner Bros. did an excellent job with Amadeus, True Romance, Coocoo's Nest & Unforgiven so studios take notes and keep them coming. I really don't care for "2-disc super editions", though on some films I got to know how they did the special effects (Star Wars, LOTR) or animations (Beauty & The Beast). My titles are as follows:

Batman
Robin Hood
The Color Purple
Driving Miss Daisy
Goodfellas
Gone With The Wind
Purple Rain
Casablanca
Blade Runner
The Breakfast Club
Casino
Scarface
A Dog Day Afternoon
Deer Hunter
Chinatown
Good Will Hunting

Wow.. that's another 16 dvd's to add to my insane collecton!

The Color Purple, Driving Miss Daisy, and Bladerunner will get new transfers in 2003. In fact, Color Purple and Miss Daisy have already been anounced for a February (?) release.

Breakfast Club is being re-released in April... no info on if new transfer was done.

I would like to add to the list any film any studio released in the wrong aspect ratio.

Why Casablanca? It has a beautiful restored print, a great documentary, a bunch of Bogart trailers...what more do you want?

Carousel
i would love to own both of these, but since everything i have read tells me they are substandard for this format, why should i invest money in them?
Dracula ('79)
Flash Gordon
i have a feeling these two probably will get re-done eventually.
but i would really love to see Warren Lieberfarb get a job at MGM and turn their sorry little outfit around.
then maybe i could get decent copies of;
Jean De Florette
Manon of The Spring
The Apartment
Who'll Stop The Rain
Elmer Gantry
and about a dozen more titles MG dumped onto dvd that are sorely needing restored prints and/or anamorphic enhancement.

I still want a proper version of Fearless.
I also hope the upcoming (02/04/2003) CTHV release of Character will be worth buying. The current Dutch R2 dvd of this 1998 Oscar winner for best foreign language film is pretty awful.

I have to add The Mighty Ducks to the list. That is the worst DVD transfer I have ever seen. Also, everything on the NON-OAR DVD list (link in sig).

Fantasia (Without censorship and with option of all existing Deems Taylor audio mixed with new...instead of the redub-only audio)

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (anything would be fine...especially a reconstruction using the 3 deleted scenes)

Laurel and Hardy silent shorts (A multi-disc set with all of the shorts)

The Last Emperor Worst looking transfer of a top film ever
Exodus Recently released (non-anamorphic) and poorly transferred -- almost unwatchable
Goodfellas No doubt will be rereleased in the near future (flipper)
Double Indemnity A travesty, but likely to be rereleased at some point
Scarface Never touched this one because of the reputation of the transfer -- likely to be rereleased
Raging Bull Understand will be rereleased in '03
The King and I needs anamorphic treatment
Planet of the Apes Anamorphic rerelease would be nice
The Abyss Anamorphic rerelease would be nice but existing transfer is not too bad for non-anamorphic title
Titanic Should have been done anamorphically the first time -- needs some SE treatment as well

Titles that need better transfers (extra's are gravy)
Fargo - coming in 2003, anamorphic but not as good as it should be
Fearless - P&S! Needs a re-release big time
Trainspotting - Currently non-anamorphic
Shallow Grave - non-anamorphic
Badlands - Anamorphic, but has too much compression due to single-layer
Goodfellas - Needs a nice anamorphic transfer, non-flipper
Last Night - P&S hell thanks to Alliance
Exotica - non-anamorphic (once again, thanks Alliance!)
New Waterford Girl - non-anamorphic

For anamorphic releases, put me down for Jean de Florette, Manon of the Spring, Planet of the Apes, The Abyss, Andrei Rublev, The Longest Day, Charade, Psycho, Vertigo. For non-flippers, put me down for Das Boot.

I will buy (or re-buy) all of these the day they are released appropriately.
