In my never ending quest to decide what to do with my old SONY HD WEGA(repair or replace). I'm wondering how much improvement I will notice with a new Panasonic 42" TH-42PX75U HD vs my current Panny" TH-42PWD7UY which is ED. I was going to move my ED to replce the WEGA and purchase a TH-42PX75U to sit where the ED TV is now. When looking at circuit city yesterday there wasn't a huge difference from what I could tell from the true HD units and my ED unit I currently have set up. My viewing distance is about 12 feet. I'm I missing something.

Greetings

By about 7-8 feet from a 42" screen, the resolution advantage goes away for the HD set. The amount of detail you see from each display is about the same.

This by no means says the images are the same. HD processing always has a slightly different look to it.

The added detail will not be seen at that distance for the average person.

Regards
