https://www.moma.org/calendar/events/8403 Interesting MoMa has nitrate material on this and with Disney did a restoration WILL Disney release this?
"This restoration, spearheaded by Walt Disney Pictures in partnership with the Film Foundation, utilizes the nitrate elements that MoMA’s first film curator, Iris Barry, acquired in 1935."

Interesting development, Marty S must have done some amazing back room deals to interest Disney in the restoration of a film that was not D property. This coming from a company that can't even develop thier own back catalog, let alone one outside of their perview.
Knowing that this title has both the backing of FF & MoMa may have inticed Disney to come to the table on this project? Could this be a indication that Disney is opening up a bit to the idea of additional restoration projects?
Now that they possess the additional back catalogs from other studios, since the corporate shuffling, perhaps this could be a way to get into the game on those fronts? Maybe not for physical formats, but definatly for HD streaming useage, expanding thier D+ hub options (similar to what HBOMax did for thier WB back catalog). We'll see...

Disney should let KINO do a deal for the FOX titles - a 1933 classic getting restored that might be hidden away in a vault? If I were a Disney stockholder I would be not too happy that revenue was not being sought by home vid. Would love to know what other classic films from FOX they have from 1930's-40s MOMA has and maybe they could restore -

I heard that the rare Fox title, Raoul Walsh's "Wild Girl" (1932-Fox), a western based on the old Bret Harte tale 'Salomy Jane,' and starring Joan Bennett, is going to be streaming on the Criterion channel. Great news for a decent print of this to finally become available. The copy that has been floating around among the collecting circuit was rather poor. It's a neat film. Always hoping for more of the hard-to-find Fox titles to come out.

This is a new restoration "This restoration, spearheaded by Walt Disney Pictures in partnership with the Film Foundation, utilizes the nitrate elements that MoMA’s first film curator, Iris Barry, acquired in 1935." So a upgrade might be warranted

I did not realize that. The article didn't make it clear it was a new restoration.

I apologize

If anyone goes to MOMA you need to pay to get into the museum and then buy a ticket to the screening. The movie ticket price can be applied against the museum admission ticket by showing your movie ticket confirmation email. Back in the day the movie screenings were included with the museum admission . The amount paid is still the museum admission but they made it more complicated.

Hope someone does go to see it and tell us!

I seriously doubt Disney will release this title on Blu-ray. It's only hope might be that it's farmed out to somebody like Kino.
