I just purchased and installed a Benq 1620 DVD/Dual Layer recording drive, into an older IBM intellistation (500mhz pentium, 500Mb ram)
The computer recognizes the drive, will read CDroms fine..but every time I put in a pre-recorded DVD I get the blue screen of death with the message "Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap," with the code 0X0000007F , which I looked up and have been told is an indicator of a ram or bios problem.
The drive is set up as a slave, with the CDrom holding the master position (jumpers on the back).
Anyone have any ideas at all how I can chase down a solution to this issue?
