Ouch. May is going to be an expensive month for BD.

Count me in for:

Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
Edward Scissorhands
Predator
Platoon
The Graduate

...at least. Gulp!

Where's a link because I can't find any confirming information from the usual sites?

Given their pricing remains the same:

I'll be picking up the following despite their outrageous MSRP price:
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
Master & Commander
Predator
Platoon

I won't be picking up the following due to their outrageous MSRP price:
Edward Scissorhands
The Battle of Britain
A Bridge Too Far
The Graduate

Fox would certainly make more money off me overall were they to lower the MSRP. As it stands there's alot of borderline titles that I'll just end up passing on and sticking to my SD's.

I can understand (almost) a 40 dollar MSRP on first releases day for date, or for special remastered films, but for catalog releases, it is just a bit too much to stomach. I would love to own a few of these movies, but if the price stays what it is, I think I will be buying fewer HD (in either format) disks in the future.

For me, the initial thrill of HD disks that has allowed me to disregard the Disk prices has passed, and I will now be much more selective on my future purchases.

I hear you, and, yet, the five titles I listed is being selective.

Honestly, I am trying to be a lot more selective with my purchases of HD media in general, regardless of price. In fact, this week I already passed on American Pyscho, First Blood, and Young Guns because they're not what I consider to be essential movies to add to my collection. I did consider Reservoir Dogs to be in that category however, so I picked it up.

This time around, I am saving my money for the hardware, being extremely selective with the media I buy and supplementing the rest with renting via Netflix.

Same here!

The titles I like, I already have on DVD and that will have to be good enough. Will put the savings towards future hardware upgrades.

Two titles I will get Hi Resolution upgrades for this time around are "Edward Scissorhands" &"Predator".

As I mentioned elsewhere:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edward Scissorhands
Man on Fire
Predator
Platoon

will all get added to my collection if can be found for under $25 CDN.

No way should a catalogue title cost over $25 in either format especially with 0 new HD features.

Hopefully my Panny will be DTS-MA ready by then, so I can experience the "clearing the jungle" scene in Predator in it's full blown glory. :)
