Bowers & Wilkins has announced the availability of the slimline 1U rack-space CDA-16 distribution power amplifier, priced at $1,999.99. The Class D digital amplifier can power up to eight rooms in a home with stereo audio. Although promoted as a custom installation product, the unit also fits neatly into a dedicated equipment rack if you are considering using it as a home theater amp.
The compact and slimline CDA-16 is designed to work with any existing B&W custom installation speaker and, in addition to driving 16 channels of 50W audio into 8 ohm loads, can also uplift to 100W per channel with 4 ohm speakers. The company says the unit can bridge its outputs to achieve a “mighty” 200W into 8 ohms, if desired. Source connectivity is complemented by eight pairs of RCA phono inputs, as well as a ‘global’ connection option which enables sharing of the same signal across all outputs.
