As a general film enthusiast I enjoy just about any genre with the exception of musicals - and martial arts. Dunno, I just never got into that karate stuff. There's a major MA renaissance currently going strong among the boutique labels. They're literally tripping over themselves trying to get in on it. I'm just wondering why now - towards the tail end of physical media. Happy for those that do enjoy them.

We'll see what Criterion does since "His Greatest Hits" was their biggest seller three years ago. The biggest assets to this set are the Original Mandarin Big Boss (albeit with burned in subs since Golden Harvest junked the negatives for the nine excised minutes) and a new scan of Way of the Dragon (presumably because the version Fortune Star had that they sent Criterion looked bloody awful). Otherwise its the same Ritrovata scans of the censored Big Boss, Fist of Fury, and Game of Death. Also, just a repackaged Warner blu for Enter the Dragon so Criterion actually wins out there.

The complete rushes to Game Of Death (that previously only existed on low quality ripped from the beta tapes) including about 20mn never seen before alone is worth the set price. Add on top Big Boss extended + way improved audio tracks as reported, that makes this one almost definitive.

I was sitting on the fence, but when I saw the huge difference in colour grading and resolution for The Big Boss on the Arrow Video, compared to the Criterion, I jumped. It's expensive - for sure - but this is an extremely well put together set, which vastly outshines the Criterion effort (which itself sold very well).

Amazon UK still hasn't shipped mine. Pre-ordered back on 4/18. Got an email 7/13 from them saying release date was pushed back a week to the 24th. Heard that alot of people that ordered from Arrow are getting crushed/damaged corners due to insufficent shipping packaging.

Ordered mine today and chose express DHL delivery - it shipped after three hours. Amazon UK and US never give the option of courier shipping to Norway for pre-orders, so I always wait until release day before ordering.

Finally got a shipping notice on the 29th, they waited to ship it out with the Steelbook of Cross of Iron & I've had the set for a week. Slowly been going through it. Final Game of Death video essay is a big 👍 . Big bummer though was the outer packaing did have some wear/dinged corners but nothing on the inside was damaged.
