NEW YORK — May 14, 2017 — On the heels of a victorious 2016-17 season, NBC has announced a new season lineup that builds upon its remarkable stability while adding a rich variety of new series. The new schedule, which will add five first-year dramas and three new comedies over the course of the 2017-18 season, is anchored by a new powerhouse Thursday lineup that includes the return of one of the most successful comedies in TV history, “Will & Grace,” the highly anticipated second season of the cultural phenomenon “This Is Us” and Dick Wolf’s explosive new true crime event series “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.”

NBC is poised to win the traditional September-to-May season in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and most other key demographics. This is the third time in four years that NBC has won the coveted 18-49 demo and the first time in five years any network has finished #1 even without a boost from the Super Bowl or an in-season Olympics. NBC is also well positioned to win the full 52-week September-to-September season in 18-49 for a fourth year in a row.

NBC currently leads the season in averages that include all programs, as well as rankings that include entertainment programs only (no sports).

NBC’s lineup during the successful 2016-17 season has included primetime’s #1 and #2 broadcast series in 18-49, Sunday and Thursday NFL football; television’s #1 first-year series and #1 broadcast drama, “This Is Us”; regular Monday and Tuesday wins keyed by “The Voice”; time-period improvements from four series that aired in new timeslots this season; and timeslot wins in 18-49 or total viewers for each of the “Chicago” dramas.

“Coming off another stabilizing year, which included the launch of one of the great new dramas in a decade, our upcoming fall schedule is both limited in the number of new series and aggressive in rebooting Thursday night,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “To create another undeniable night of television, we’re aligning some of our most potent shows on Thursday in order to bring back ‘Must See TV.’ We are also strategically deploying strong new shows in choice time periods on other nights and nurturing our growing comedy lineup.

“To do all that you have to have the goods, and our development teams headed by Presidents Jennifer Salke and Paul Telegdy once again delivered new scripted and unscripted shows that are among the best on television. From fall to midseason to summer, we will be programming robustly so as to achieve a record amount of original programming all year long. And when you add the Super Bowl, the Winter Olympics, and the balance of our unprecedented sports franchises, we expect to remain the leading broadcast network by virtually every measure.”

Drama highlights of the newly announced fall schedule are “The Brave,” where a Washington, D.C., team of highly trained analysts and Special Ops forces work together to execute missions in some of the most dangerous places in the world; and uberproducer Dick Wolf’s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders,” which stars four-time Emmy Award winner Edie Falco as lead attorney Leslie Abramson, who represented the brothers who killed their wealthy parents in a Beverly Hills mansion.

New dramas that will launch in midseason are “Rise,” from “Parenthood” and “Friday Night Lights” producer Jason Katims, and “Hamilton” producer Jeffrey Seller, starring Josh Radnor (“How I Met Your Mother”), Rosie Perez (Oscar nominee) and Auli’i Cravalho (“Moana”), about a dedicated high school teacher who, when taking over the school’s lackluster theater department, galvanizes not only the faculty and students but the entire working-class town; “Good Girls,” from executive producer Jenna Bans (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal”), which mixes a little of “Thelma & Louise” with “Breaking Bad,” about three best friends who rob a local supermarket to help make ends meet and realize their perfect getaway is anything but; and “Reverie,” starring Sarah Shahi as a college professor trying to save ordinary people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced virtual-reality program in which you can literally live your dreams.

NBC’s growing comedy lineup this fall is highlighted by the return of the beloved “Will & Grace,” which was previously nominated for 83 Emmy Awards and won 16, including Outstanding Comedy Series. The fearsome foursome — Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally — return in all their glory, as do executive producers Max Mutchnick, David Kohan and legendary director James Burrows. NBC’s two other new comedy series premiering later this season are “A.P. Bio” from executive producers Lorne Michaels and Seth Meyers, which stars Glenn Howerton (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) as an Advanced Placement biology teacher who makes it perfectly clear he will not be teaching any biology and uses his students to his own benefit, and “Champions,” from Charlie Grandy (“The Office”) and Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project”), about a charismatic gym owner with no ambition who suddenly finds out he has a teenage son.

“We have very promising new series that will join one of our strongest returning lineups to date,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “We’re proud of our roster of distinctive dramas that includes original concepts such as ‘The Blacklist’ or ‘Blindspot,’ not to mention the enduring legacy of Dick Wolf, who will also bring a new true crime series to the network next fall. ‘This Is Us’ has quickly become a defining moment for the NBC brand, and we look forward to launching bold new series such as ‘The Brave,’ ‘Rise,’ ‘Reverie’ and ‘Good Girls.’ Our comedy profile, too, is starting to hit its stride, and we’re thrilled to welcome new comedies with sought-after producers such as Mindy Kaling, Lorne Michaels and Seth Meyers.”

Rounding out NBC’s robust schedule are alternative series that include “The Awesome Show,” from executive producers Chris Hardwick (“The Wall”), Mark Burnett (“The Voice”) and Silicon Valley’s Singularity University, that will showcase the groundbreaking scientific and technological advances that are shaping the future; “Ellen’s Game of Games,” starring the one and only Ellen DeGeneres and featuring super-sized versions of some of the most beloved games from her daytime talk show; “Genius Junior,” hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, celebrates the smartest kids in America with mind-blowing tests of logic, math, memory, spelling and more; and “The Handmade Project,” from executive producers Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, a lighthearted competition celebrating the creativity and craftiness in all of us.

“With the #1 ratings of ‘The Voice’ plus consistent Sunday leadership of ‘Little Big Shots’ along with television’s top-rated primetime game show ‘The Wall,’ NBC remains #1 in alternative programs for a fourth straight season,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. “We look forward to finishing out the broadcast year with the perennial #1 summer series ‘America’s Got Talent,’ last summer’s top new broadcast series ‘Better Late Than Never’ and ‘American Ninja Warrior,’ which delivered its most-watched season ever. And the alternative momentum continues next year with a slate of inventive new projects from some of the most desirable names in the industry – Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Ellen DeGeneres, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Hardwick and Mark Burnett.”

Returning shows for the 2017-18 schedule include “The Blacklist,” “Blindspot,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Dateline NBC,” “The Good Place,” “Great News,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Little Big Shots,” “Shades of Blue,” “Superstore,” “Taken,” “This Is Us,” “Timeless,” “The Voice” and “The Wall.”

“NBC’s primetime schedule once again looks strong and affiliate friendly. We appreciate the consideration given to the late news lead-ins and look forward to another successful season,” said Ralph Oakley, President and CEO of Quincy Media, Inc. and Chairperson of the NBC Affiliates Board.

I am very happy that The Blacklist has been moved to Wednesdays at 8, a much more appealing timeslot for me, and I hope the show will rebound in the ratings some in this new slot.

Any time slot is coveted when it comes after a network's most popular show. It's the best insurance the networks have that the show there will get a major audience sampling. The shows in that NBC slot have generally been renewed. The only one that wasn't that I can recall was that Katherine Heigl drama. The other most recent occupants, The Blacklist, Blindspot, Timeless, Taken, have all gotten renewals.

New York – Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group, today will unveil the FOX primetime slate for the 2017-2018 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.

“This past season, we launched five of the top 15 new series – more than any other network – and next season, we’re using our strongest series to launch new shows and grow returning series,” said Newman and Walden. “We’re strategically pairing shows that have greater compatibility to increase audience flow and create higher duplication on each night. We endeavored to develop a mix of provocative, compelling dramas; broad, funny comedies; and exciting, live events from the best creators in the business – and we're excited about these new shows.”

The new dramas joining the schedule this fall are THE GIFTED and THE ORVILLE. Produced in association with Marvel Television, family adventure series THE GIFTED tells the emotional story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family seeks help from an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. The series stars Stephen Moyer (SHOTS FIRED, “True Blood”), Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”), Natalie Alyn Lind (GOTHAM) and Percy Hynes White (“Night at the Museum 3”) as the STRUCKER family. Also featured in the series are Sean Teale (“Reign”) as ECLIPSE/MARCOS DIAZ; Jamie Chung (GOTHAM) as BLINK/CLARICE FONG; Emma Dumont (“Aquarius”) as POLARIS/LORNA DANE; Blair Redford (“Satisfaction”) as THUNDERBIRD/JOHN PROUDSTAR; and Coby Bell (“Burn Notice”) as Sentinel Services Agent JACE TURNER. The series is written by Matt Nix (“Burn Notice”), directed by Bryan Singer (the “X-Men” franchise”) and executive-produced by Nix, Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”) and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

Watch/Share the Full-Length Trailer for THE GIFTED:

From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted”) and director Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book,” “Iron Man”), THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour, ensemble comedic drama set 400 years in the future that follows the adventures of The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship, as its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life. The series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Commanding Officer and Adrianne Palicki (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Friday Night Lights”) as his ex-wife, who’s assigned as his First Officer.

The new comedy joining the lineup this fall is GHOSTED. Starring Craig Robinson (“The Office,” “This Is the End”) and Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation,” “Big Little Lies”), GHOSTED is a single-camera, action-comedy about the partnership between two polar opposites – a cynical skeptic and a genius “true believer” in the paranormal, who are recruited to investigate unexplained phenomena in Los Angeles – all while uncovering a larger mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race. Scott and Robinson also serve as executive producers on the series.

Additionally, FOX and Warner Horizon Unscripted Television will partner with acclaimed film, television and theater producer Marc Platt (GREASE: LIVE, “La La Land,” “Wicked”) on the LIVE musical event A CHRISTMAS STORY, inspired by the holiday classic feature “A Christmas Story” and the Tony Award-nominated Broadway production “A Christmas Story: The Musical.” Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, recent Tony Award nominees for the musical “Dear Evan Hansen” and lyricists of “La La Land’s” Academy Award-winning song, “City of Stars,” also scored “A Christmas Story: The Musical,” and will compose several new songs for the LIVE television event, with Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary (GREASE: LIVE) adapting the book. The three-hour live television production of A CHRISTMAS STORY will air this December on FOX.

In 2018, additional new series and events joining the schedule include dramas 9-1-1 and THE RESIDENT; comedy LA TO VEGAS; and an all-new installment of event series THE X-FILES.

From prolific creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, new procedural drama 9-1-1 is a fast-paced exploration into the lives and careers of first responders – cops, paramedics, firefighters – the people who put their lives on the line to save others. Starring Academy and Emmy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett (“American Horror Story,” “What’s Love Got to Do with It”), the series is based on the real-life, high-pressure experiences of emergency response providers who are thrust into heart-stopping situations that are equal parts unpredictable, intense and uplifting.

Focusing on three doctors at different stages of their careers and a dedicated young nurse, THE RESIDENT is a provocative new medical drama that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. Starring Matt Czuchry (“The Good Wife”), Emily VanCamp (“Revenge”), Manish Dayal (“Halt and Catch Fire”), Shaunette Renée Wilson (“Billions”) and Bruce Greenwood (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” “Mad Men”), the series’ executive producers include Amy Holden Jones (“Mystic Pizza,” “Indecent Proposal”), Antoine Fuqua (“Southpaw,” “Training Day”) and Phillip Noyce (“Patriot Games,” “The Bone Collector”), who also directed the pilot.

From executive producers Will Ferrell (“Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” “Elf”), Adam McKay (“The Big Short”) and Lon Zimmet (“Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt”), and executive producer/director Steve Levitan (“Modern Family”), LA TO VEGAS is a workplace comedy about an airline crew and the eccentric passengers who, every weekend, take a no-frills roundtrip flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with one goal in mind – to come back a winner. The series stars Kim Matula (“UnREAL”), Ed Weeks (“The Mindy Project”), Nathan Lee Graham (“The Comeback,” “Hitch”), Olivia Macklin (“The Young Pope”) with Peter Stormare (“The Big Lebowski”) and Emmy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Dylan McDermott (“The Practice,” “American Horror Story”).

The next chapter of THE X-FILES, a thrilling, 10-episode second installment of the event series, once again will be executive-produced by creator Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning in their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. In 2016, THE X-FILES drew an average multi-platform audience of nearly 16 million viewers and was the season’s No. 2 broadcast drama, as well as the most talked-about event series on Twitter.

Executive producer Marc Platt also will team with FOX on RENT, a live musical production of the Tony Award-, Grammy Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical “Rent.” The groundbreaking musical is a re-imagining of Puccini’s “La Bohème,” set in New York City’s gritty East Village, which tells the unforgettable story of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams during a time of great social and political turmoil. Writer/composer Jonathan Larson’s tour de force celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, as it continues to offer an inspiring message of hope and friendship.

During the 2017-2018 season, several FOX series will celebrate major milestones, including FAMILY GUY’s 300th episode and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE’s 99th episode. In addition to already claiming the title of longest-running scripted series in television history, THE SIMPSONS will enter the record books yet again next spring, as having produced the most episodes for a scripted series, surpassing “Gunsmoke’s” record of 635. Additionally, NEW GIRL will air its seventh and final season.

FOX’s full 2017-2018 programming slate is – Dramas: 9-1-1, EMPIRE, THE EXORCIST, THE GIFTED, GOTHAM, LETHAL WEAPON, LUCIFER, THE ORVILLE, THE RESIDENT, STAR, THE X-FILES; Comedies: BOB’S BURGERS, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, FAMILY GUY, GHOSTED, LA TO VEGAS, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH; THE MICK, NEW GIRL, THE SIMPSONS; Live Events: A CHRISTMAS STORY, RENT; Unscripted: AMERICAN GRIT, BEAT SHAZAM, THE F WORD WITH GORDON RAMSAY, HELL’S KITCHEN, LOVE CONNECTION, MASTERCHEF, MASTERCHEF JUNIOR, SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, SUPERHUMAN.

NEW SERIES SYNOPSES

NEW DRAMA SERIES
THE GIFTED

THE GIFTED tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. REED (Stephen Moyer, SHOTS FIRED, “True Blood”) and CAITLIN (Amy Acker, “Person of Interest”) STRUCKER are typical middle-class parents dealing with the realities of raising a family. However, when their teenage kids, LAUREN (Natalie Alyn Lind, GOTHAM) and ANDY (Percy Hynes White, “Night at the Museum 3”), are involved in an incident at their high school which reveals they are mutants, Reed and Caitlin do all in their power to protect their children. Forced to go on the run, the Struckers must leave behind their old lives to flee from a relentless government agency that tracks down mutants, the Sentinel Services, which includes Agent JACE TURNER (Coby Bell, “Burn Notice”). Complicating matters further is the fact that Reed is a prosecutor in the district attorney’s office tasked with going after mutants. Desperate and running low on options, the family’s only choice is to contact an underground network that helps mutants in trouble. The mutants in the network – ECLIPSE / MARCOS DIAZ (Sean Teale, “Reign”), BLINK / CLARICE FONG (Jamie Chung, GOTHAM), POLARIS / LORNA DANE (Emma Dumont, “Aquarius”) and THUNDERBIRD / JOHN PROUDSTAR (Blair Redford, “Satisfaction”) – are dealing with their own issues. With one of their members in prison and their team possibly compromised, they face an uncertain future in a world that looks increasingly dangerous for mutants. Written by Matt Nix (“Burn Notice”), directed by Bryan Singer (the “X-Men” franchise) and executive-produced by Nix, Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “The Wolverine”), Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”), Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”) and Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”), THE GIFTED is a story of survival, a story of mutants coming to terms with who they are, a story of parents accepting the fact that their kids aren’t who they thought they were and loving them just the same – even if all of their lives are at risk because of it.

THE ORVILLE

From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted”) and directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book,” “Iron Man”), THE ORVILLE is a one-hour, live-action, ensemble comedic drama set 400 years in the future that follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel. Its crew, both human and alien, faces the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of regular people in a workplace…even though some of those people are from other planets, and the workplace is a faster-than-light spaceship. In the 25th century, Earth is part of the Planetary Union, a far-reaching, advanced and mostly peaceful civilization with a fleet of 3,000 ships. Down on his luck after a bitter divorce, Planetary Union officer ED MERCER (MacFarlane) finally gets his chance to command one of these ships: the U.S.S. Orville. Determined to prove his worth and write a new chapter in his life, Ed finds that task all the more difficult when the First Officer assigned to his ship is his ex-wife, KELLY GRAYSON (Adrianne Palicki, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Friday Night Lights”). As the new commander, Ed assembles a qualified, but eccentric crew, including his best friend, GORDON MALLOY (Scott Grimes, “ER,” “Justified”), who has problems with authority, but is the best helmsman in the fleet; DR. CLAIRE FINN (Penny Johnson Jerald, “24,” “The Larry Sanders Show”), one of the Union’s most accomplished physicians; BORTUS (Peter Macon, “Shameless,” “Bosch”), an alien from a single-sex species; ISAAC (Mark Jackson, “That Royal Today”), an artificial life-form from a machine society that thinks biological life-forms are inferior; navigator JOHN LAMARR (J. Lee, FAMILY GUY, “The Cleveland Show”), whose casual humor cuts through even the most dire situations; ALARA KITAN (Halston Sage, “Neighbors,” “Goosebumps”), a young, inexperienced security officer whose home planet’s high gravity gives her superior physical strength; and YAPHIT, a gelatinous creature voiced by comedian Norm Macdonald (“The Middle,” “Saturday Night Live”). Somehow, Ed and Kelly must put the past behind them and, with the help of the crew, navigate fascinating and sometimes dangerous adventures in outer space, as well as the tumultuous and captivating day-to-day personal relationships with their colleagues.

THE RESIDENT (Midseason)

Focusing on three doctors at different stages of their careers and a dedicated young nurse, THE RESIDENT is a provocative new medical drama that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. Meet DR. CONRAD HAWKINS (Matt Czuchry, “The Good Wife”), one of the best doctors at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. Charming, arrogant and only a third-year resident, Conrad does everything in the most unconventional way possible. Along with treating patients, Conrad believes it is his job to burst the illusions of first-year residents, like DR. DEVON PRAVESH (Manish Dayal, “Halt and Catch Fire”), and turn them into real-life doctors. Devon is an innocent idealist, who wears his finely tuned moral compass and passion for science like armor. With Conrad’s help, however, Devon quickly discovers the reality of his chosen profession is not what he imagined, and that ethical lines are often blurred. Nothing, not even the best medical school in the country, could have prepared him for what he’s about to learn. As Devon accompanies Conrad through the hospital’s halls, he meets distinguished chief of surgery DR. RANDOLPH BELL (Bruce Greenwood, “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” “Mad Men”), the face of the hospital and its most sought-after doctor, whose diminishing skills, and the errors they cause, are covered with the help of allies under his command; DR. MINA OKAFOR (Shaunette Renée Wilson, “Billions”), a rising star surgeon from Nigeria who is threatening Bell’s dominance, but who also is in the U.S. on a visa; and NICOLETTE NEVIN (Emily VanCamp, “Revenge”), one of Chastain Memorial’s most respected nurses and Conrad’s on-again-off-again romantic partner. While Conrad opens Devon’s eyes to the stark realities of hospital life, the once-optimistic young doctor soon realizes that the practice of medicine is a business, like any other. Not all patients are angels and not all doctors are gods, but one thing’s for sure: expectations are meant to be shattered.

NEW COMEDY SERIES
GHOSTED

Starring Craig Robinson (“The Office,” “This Is the End”) and Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation,” “Big Little Lies”), GHOSTED is a single-camera, action-comedy about the unlikely partnership between two down-on-their-luck polar opposites tasked with an even more unlikely mission: saving the human race from aliens. LEROY WRIGHT (Robinson) is a cynical skeptic and former missing persons detective, who, if we’re speaking frankly, thinks that “aliens” are a big ole bunch of B.S. and that people who believe in them are certifiably nuts...People like MAX JENNIFER (Scott). Max is a genius “true believer” in the paranormal who’s convinced his wife was abducted by aliens. At low points in their lives, both Leroy and Max are recruited by CAPTAIN AVA LAFREY (Ally Walker, “Colony,” “Sons of Anarchy”), a take-no-prisoners, former Air Force test pilot and head of the Bureau Underground, a secret government organization investigating paranormal cases. Lafrey, along with her staff – BARRY SHAW (Adeel Akhtar, “Unforgotten,” “The Night Manager”), an overly friendly forensic pathologist, and DELILAH WARD, a highly opinionated tech specialist – will support Leroy and Max in their quest for answers. Now, this heroic group of underdogs will look into “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles that often leads them to scary, thrilling and hilarious places, as they attempt to uncover the truth and keep the earth rotating on its axis for at least one more day.

PRODUCTION COMPANY: 20th Century Fox Television

LA TO VEGAS (Midseason)

From executive producers Will Ferrell (“Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” “Elf”), Adam McKay (“The Big Short”), Lon Zimmet (“Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt”) and Steve Levitan (“Modern Family”), LA TO VEGAS is a single-camera ensemble comedy about an airline crew and the eccentric passengers who, every weekend, take the roundtrip flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with one goal in mind – to come back a winner. Welcome to Jackpot Airlines, a budget carrier whose junket flight from LA to Vegas and back again, is filled with dreamers looking for that big score. Holding (or, more to the point, barely holding) these voyages together is RONNIE (Kim Matula, “UnREAL”), a long-suffering flight attendant who tries to keep her cool (oftentimes, with little success) whether she’s dealing with a bi-polar bride-to-be or the dead body in Row 13. Managing the revolving door of bachelor parties and 21st birthdays gets even trickier when Ronnie develops a “location-ship” with COLIN (Ed Weeks, “The Mindy Project”), a regular passenger and an economics professor, whose son and soon-to-be ex-wife live in Vegas. Further complicating her job every weekend is CAPTAIN DAVE (Emmy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Dylan McDermott, “The Practice,” “American Horror Story”), the narcissistic pilot whose fighter-pilot dreams never quite worked out; BERNARD (Nathan Lee Graham, “The Comeback,” “Hitch”), the always-positive career flight attendant who thinks there’s no flight more magical than the LA-to-Vegas; ARTEM (Peter Stormare, “The Big Lebowski”), the genial professional gambler who serves as the plane’s resident (but unofficial) bookie; and NICHOLE (Olivia Macklin, “The Young Pope”), the sweet-natured, part-time stripper who’s a lot savvier than people realize. It won’t be easy, but this unlikely group of miscreants and dreamers will eventually go from being strangers on a plane to a supportive, if unconventional, family…from Friday to Sunday...whether they like it or not.

Odd that Chicago Med isn't listed
I hope it comes back, I really enjoy it. The other "Chicago" shows wouldn't be missed.

As Matt mentioned, that Katherine Heigl show. I forget what it was, but that's probably why it vanished, forgettable. She's been successful but not really a "star" since her odd "Grey's Anatomy" departure.

The 23 returning shows include the comedies THE BIG BANG THEORY, television’s #1 scripted series and the #1 comedy for seven consecutive years; KEVIN CAN WAIT, this season’s #1 new comedy; the critically acclaimed time period winner MOM; as well as LIFE IN PIECES, MAN WITH A PLAN and SUPERIOR DONUTS.

In news, CBS will return 60 MINUTES, as it celebrates its 50th anniversary and five decades as television’s #1 news program, and Saturday’s #1 regularly scheduled program, 48 HOURS, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Two new series also set to premiere later in the 2017-2018 season are: BY THE BOOK, a comedy about a modern day man who decides to live his life strictly by the Bible, and INSTINCT, a drama starring Alan Cumming as a gifted author, university professor and former CIA operative who is lured back to his old life by the NYPD when they need his help to stop a serial killer.

In addition, NFL THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL returns to CBS’ #1 primetime lineup for the fourth consecutive year with five early-season games on consecutive weeks. The Thursday broadcasts kick off on Sept. 28 with Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers.

The 2017-2018 night-by-night schedule:

MONDAYS – Two new comedies will join a night that will roll out in several phases this fall, with THE BIG BANG THEORY once again opening the night while the Network broadcasts NFL THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.

On Sept. 25, YOUNG SHELDON will have a special Monday premiere at 8:30 PM following the season premiere of THE BIG BANG THEORY, and then move to its regular Thursday time period on Nov. 2. Television’s #1 new comedy KEVIN CAN WAIT will open the season at 9:00 PM, providing a strong launch pad for the new comedy ME, MYSELF & I, starring Bobby Moynihan, at 9:30 PM. SCORPION, Monday’s most watched scripted broadcast, returns at 10:00 PM to wrap up the night.

On Oct. 2, new family comedy 9JKL premieres at 8:30 PM, starring Mark Feuerstein, Linda Lavin and Elliott Gould, with THE BIG BANG THEORY providing the best comedy lead-in on television.

After NFL THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ends, THE BIG BANG THEORY will move to its regular Thursday time period on Nov. 2. On Monday, Oct. 30, KEVIN CAN WAIT will shift to 8:00 PM to open the night, followed by 9JKL. Then, ME, MYSELF & I will move to its regular 9:00 PM time period, followed by the return of SUPERIOR DONUTS at 9:30 PM, starring Jermaine Fowler and Judd Hirsch.

TUESDAYS – Tuesday’s winning schedule remains intact. NCIS, television’s #1 drama for eight years, returns at 8:00 PM, followed by BULL, this season’s #1 new drama in viewers, at 9:00 PM. NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, which improved its time period +33% from last year, caps the night at 10:00 PM.

WEDNESDAYS – Two established hits bracket an exciting new drama. SURVIVOR once again anchors the night at 8:00 PM, where it continues to win in viewers and demographics, leading into the new military drama SEAL TEAM starring David Boreanaz at 9:00 PM. The hit drama CRIMINAL MINDS shifts to 10:00 PM to begin its 13th season.

THURSDAYS – NFL THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL kicks off on Sept. 28, giving CBS a strong promotional platform to launch the new season. The Network’s top-rated entertainment schedule returns Nov. 2 with THE BIG BANG THEORY in its regular 8:00 PM slot, providing a perfect lead-in for the new comedy YOUNG SHELDON at 8:30 PM. Next is time period winner MOM at 9:00 PM, followed by LIFE IN PIECES, a time period winner in adults 25-54 at 9:30 PM. At 10:00 PM, Shemar Moore returns to CBS in the new action-packed drama S.W.A.T.

FRIDAYS – The only night on television where every hour grew in viewers this season. CBS’ winning night begins with time period winner MACGYVER at 8:00 PM, followed by HAWAII FIVE-0, another time period winner. At 10:00 PM, BLUE BLOODS, Friday’s #1 program, caps the evening of top-rated dramas.

SATURDAYS – CBS’ Saturday lineup features CRIMETIME SATURDAY, encore broadcasts of the Network’s popular dramas at 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM, followed by the night’s #1 regularly scheduled program, 48 HOURS, at 10:00 PM.

SUNDAYS – The venerable 60 MINUTES returns at 7:00 PM, celebrating its 50th anniversary season. Television’s #1 news program for five decades will lead into the new drama WISDOM OF THE CROWD, starring Jeremy Piven, at 8:00 PM. Sunday’s #1 scripted broadcast, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, shifts to 9:00 PM, followed by MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday’s #2 scripted broadcast, at 10:00 PM to close out the weekend.

CBS will once again present original programming throughout the full season, rolling out new series BY THE BOOK and INSTINCT, and returning favorites CODE BLACK, ELEMENTARY, MAN WITH A PLAN and the award-winning reality series THE AMAZING RACE and UNDERCOVER BOSS.

Torn between loyalty to the streets where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, former Marine Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Moore) has everything it takes to successfully bridge the divide between his two worlds and excel at leading his dedicated team of brave men and women as they risk their lives to protect the community. Aaron Thomas, Shawn Ryan, Justin Lin, Neal Moritz, Marney Hochman, Danielle Woodrow and Pavun Shetty are executive producers for Sony Pictures Television in association with CBS Television Studios. Lin directed the pilot.

S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, Stephanie Sigman as Jessica Cortez, Alex Russell as Jim Street, Jay Harrington as David “Deacon” Kay, Lina Esco as Christina “Chris” Alonso, Kenny Johnson as Dominique Luca and Peter Onorati as Mumford.

WISDOM OF THE CROWD stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Jeremy Piven as a visionary tech innovator who creates a cutting-edge crowdsourcing app to solve his daughter’s murder, and revolutionizes crime solving in the process. Inspired by the notion that a million minds are better than one, Silicon Valley entrepreneur Jeffrey Tanner (Piven) develops “Sophe,” an online platform for publicly shared information, and recruits the original cop who searched for his daughter’s killer, Det. Tommy Cavanaugh (Richard T. Jones), to work with him. As Tanner taps into the “wisdom of the crowd,” his unexpected success fuels his determination to solve even more cases than just the one that’s personal to him. Ted Humphrey; Adam Davidson (pilot); Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan (Keshet Media Group); and Dror Mishani and Shira Hadad are executive producers for CBS Television Studios in association with Universal Television. THE NEW FALL COMEDIES:
9JKL stars Mark Feuerstein in a family comedy inspired by his real life. Josh Roberts (Feuerstein) is a new divorcé and actor between projects who moves home to New York to regroup, living in an apartment sandwiched between his doting, meddlesome parents on one side and his competitive brother, sister-in-law and their new baby on the other. As Josh’s family literally comes at him from both sides, he realizes he desperately needs to establish some personal boundaries, because his loving family is always going to be right there for him. During these pivotal periods of yesterday, today and tomorrow, Alex always finds a way to move forward with determination and humor, knowing his life story isn’t defined by the bad things that happen to him, but instead by how he chooses to deal with them. Dan Kopelman, Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor and Randall Einhorn (pilot only) are executive producers for Kapital Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. Einhorn directed the pilot.

YOUNG SHELDON – For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage), it isn’t easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. THE BIG BANG THEORY’s multiple Emmy Award winner Jim Parsons narrates as Adult Sheldon. This single-camera, half-hour comedy gives us the chance to meet Sheldon in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro created the series and executive produce along with Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak for Warner Bros. Television. Jon Favreau directed the pilot.

Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming) is a gifted author and university professor living a quiet life teaching psychopathic behavior to packed classes of adoring students. But when top NYPD detective Lizzie Needham appeals to him to help her catch a serial murderer who is using Dylan’s first book as a tutorial, Dylan is compelled by the case, comes out of retirement and taps into his old skill set. Though Dylan and Lizzie initially clash, when it comes to catching killers, they realize they will make an ideal team if they both trust their instincts. Based on the soon to be published James Patterson book. Michael Rauch, Marc Webb, Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin (Secret Hideout), James Patterson, Bill Robinson, Leopoldo Gout and Alan Cumming are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. Webb directed the pilot.

BY THE BOOK is a comedy about a modern day man at a crossroads in his life who decides to live strictly in accordance with the Bible. Chip Curry (Jay R. Ferguson) is the film critic for a New York newspaper and a soon-to-be father who wants to be a better man following the loss of his best friend. As he begins his sincere spiritual journey toward a more moral life with the help of his wife and friends, he wonders if he’ll be able to take a page – or every page – out of the Good Book, and if the effect will be of Biblical proportions. Based on The New York Times bestselling book The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs. Patrick Walsh, Johnny Galecki, Andrew Haas, Spencer Medof and multiple Emmy Award winner Andy Ackerman (pilot) are executive producers for Alcide Bava Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. Ackerman directed the pilot.

Young Sheldon looks absolutely terrible.
The Mayor could be fun.
The Gifted IS Heroes. But can they do it better than NBC did as a real property with people who actually like comic books?

None of the other new entries even look like anything.

They keep canceling shows I like, while providing nothing new of interest. Soon I'll be able to ditch my cable TV altogether!

NEW DRAMA SERIES:
VALOR

(@CW_Valor #Valor)

An elite unit of U.S. Army helicopter pilots called the Shadow Raiders are sent on a top secret mission to Somalia, a mission that goes terribly awry. Only two members of the team return safely: Warrant Officer Nora Madani (Christina Ochoa), one of the unit’s first female helicopter pilots, and her commanding officer, Captain Leland Gallo (Matt Barr), while the whereabouts of their comrade Jimmy Kam (W. Tre Davis) are unknown. Now back in the U.S., Madani and Gallo are the only ones who know the truth about what really went wrong in Somalia. Nora’s boyfriend, First Lieutenant Ian Porter (Charlie Barnett), suspects she’s not telling him the full story, and Jess Kam (Corbin Reid), Jimmy’s wife and Nora’s friend, is frustrated and furious at being kept in the dark. Meanwhile Thea, (Melissa Roxburgh) the enigmatic CIA officer charged with investigating the failed mission, has her own suspicions about what occurred. With Nora still recovering from a gunshot wound suffered during the mission, the commander of the Shadow Raiders, Col. Robert Haskins (Nigel Thatch), grounds her from flying. But when it’s discovered that Jimmy is alive and being held captive by a group of ruthless terrorists, Nora is determined to join Gallo back in the cockpit to rescue their friend. As preparation and training intensify, Nora and Gallo grow closer, and soon find themselves torn between duty, honor and desire as they wonder who they can trust, and whether the secrets they’re hiding will help save Jimmy… or put them all in terrible danger. VALOR stars Matt Barr (“Sleepy Hollow”), Christina Ochoa (“Animal Kingdom”), Charlie Barnett (“Chicago Fire”), W. Trè Davis (“Shades of Blue”), Corbin Reid (“How to Get Away With Murder”), Nigel Thatch (“Selma”) and Melissa Roxburgh (“Star Trek Beyond”). From CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Bill Haber (“Rizzoli & Isles”), Anna Fricke (“Being Human”), Kyle Jarrow (“Lost Generation”) and Michael Robin (“Nip/Tuck”).

DYNASTY

(@CW_Dynasty #Dynasty)

Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies) is charismatic, cunning, and poised to become the new COO of her father’s global energy empire – or so she thinks. When her father, Blake Carrington, (Grant Show) summons Fallon and her brother, Steven, (James Mackay) home to the family compound in Atlanta, Fallon is horrified to learn that the reunion isn’t to announce her promotion – but rather to make the acquaintance of their stepmother-to-be, Cristal (Nathalie Kelley). Cristal is stunning – and almost as young as Fallon, as Fallon is quick to point out – but she isn’t just some flimsy gold-digger to be scared off. Cristal is driven, principled, a savvy publicity maven at Carrington Atlantic, and she truly loves Blake. However, the wealth and privilege of the Carringtons’ world proves challenging to her, as she clashes with the staff, including Blake’s butler Anders (Alan Dale), as well as Fallon, who all make it very clear Cristal doesn’t belong. Family dynasties flow through blood, and Fallon would sooner draw blood than call Cristal “Mom.” Fallon asks Culhane (Robert Christopher Riley), the family’s chauffeur – and Fallon’s secret lover – to help expose Cristal for the fraud Fallon thinks she is. But when that backfires, and Blake chooses Cristal over his own daughter, Fallon sidles up to Blake’s biggest rival, Jeff Colby (Sam Adegoke), mixing business and pleasure to seek her revenge… leaving a jealous Culhane to watch from the sidelines. While the Carringtons’ rocky relationships prove the theory that family sticks together no matter what, Cristal is reminded of exactly that when her nephew, Sammy Jo (Rafael de la Fuente), arrives with a suitcase full of secrets from Cristal’s past. Now Cristal’s carefully concealed history could bring her future crashing down – and who knows who else she might take down with her. DYNASTY stars Grant Show (“Melrose Place”), Elizabeth Gillies (“Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll”), Nathalie Kelley (“UnReal,” “The Vampire Diaries”), James Mackay (“The Leftovers”), Alan Dale (“The O.C.”), Sam Adegoke (“Murder in the First”), Robert Christopher Riley (“Hit the Floor”), and Rafael de la Fuente (“Empire”). From CBS Television Studios in association with Fake Empire, with executive producers Josh Schwartz (“Gossip Girl), Stephanie Savage (“Gossip Girl”), Sallie Patrick (“Revenge”), Esther and Richard Shapiro (the creators of the original “Dynasty”) and Brad Silberling (“Jane The Virgin”).

BLACK LIGHTNING

(@BlackLightning #BlackLightning)

Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community. Based on the characters from DC, BLACK LIGHTNING is from Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash”), Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil (“Being Mary Jane,” “The Game,” “Girlfriends”), and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash”). The Black Lightning character was created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden.

NEW COMEDY SERIES:
LIFE SENTENCE

(@CW_Lifesentence #LifeSentence)

LIFE SENTENCE follows Stella (Lucy Hale), a girl who has spent the last eight years living like she was dying (because she was). Just like the “manic pixie dream girl” heroines in her favorite sappy cancer movies, Stella traveled the world, faced her darkest fears and found true love on a whirlwind trip to Paris. But when Stella finds out that her cancer has been cured, she is suddenly forced to face the long-term consequences of the “live in the moment” decisions she made, including marrying a total stranger. And if that’s not enough, she also finds out that her “perfect family” isn’t so perfect after all. Turns out, because she was dying, everyone in her life hid their problems from her. But, now that she’s well, all bets are off. Stella is shocked to learn that her parents, Peter (Dylan Walsh) and Ida (Gillian Vigman), have fallen out of love, partly because Peter spent their retirement helping Stella make the most of her final days, and partly because Ida has fallen in love with her best friend (Stella’s godmother), Poppy. Also, it turns out Stella may be responsible for the fact that her sister, Elizabeth (Brooke Lyons), gave up her own dreams to take care of Stella and start a family with her husband Diego (Carlos PenaVega), just to give her parents something positive to focus on. Then there’s Stella’s often overlooked brother, Aiden (Jayson Blair), who’s pushing 30 and still lives above the garage, sells Adderall to soccer moms and uses Stella’s cancer to guilt them into sleeping with him. And, of course, there’s her husband Wes (Elliot Knight), a handsome Londoner who she agreed to spend the rest of her life with, thinking that would only be six to eight months, tops. Now that their forever just got a whole lot longer than they were expecting, Wes begins to worry that he can’t continue to pretend to be her perfect husband for the rest of his life. With a real future suddenly in front of her, Stella’s cinematic life snaps into reality, and instead of living like she’s dying, she will have to learn to live like she’s living, and help her family and friends do the same. This multi-generational, coming-of-age story proves that we all end up living somewhere between our dreams and reality… and maybe that’s okay. LIFE SENTENCE stars Lucy Hale (“Pretty Little Liars”), Elliot Knight (“Once Upon A Time”), Dylan Walsh (“Nip/Tuck”), Gillian Vigman (“The Hangover”), Jayson Blair (“Whiplash”), Brooke Lyons (“The Affair”) and Carlos PenaVega (“Big Time Rush”). From Doozer Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Erin Cardillo (“Fuller House,” “Significant Mother”) Richard Keith (“Fuller House,” “Significant Mother”), Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs,” “Cougar Town”), Jeff Ingold (“Ground Floor”), Oliver Goldstick (“Pretty Little Liars”) and Lee Toland Krieger (“The Age of Adaline,” “Riverdale”).

RETURNING SERIES:
SUPERGIRL

(@TheCWSupergirl #Supergirl)

SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC character Kara Zor-El, (Melissa Benoist) Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later, Kara was living in National City and still concealing her powers, when a plane crash threatened Alex’s life and Kara took to the sky to save her. Now, Kara balances her work as a reporter for CatCo Worldwide Media with her work for the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), a super-secret government organization whose mission is to keep National City – and the Earth – safe from sinister threats. At the DEO, Kara works for J’onn J’onzz (David Harewood), the Martian Manhunter, and alongside her sister, Alex, and best friend, Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan). Also in Kara’s life are media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), a photo journalist who moonlights as Guardian, a masked vigilante, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), and Mon-El of Daxam (Chris Wood), whose planet was ravaged by Krypton’s destruction. As Kara struggles to navigate her relationships and her burgeoning life as a reporter, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime. Based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, SUPERGIRL is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Arrow”), Andrew Kreisberg (“The Flash,” “Arrow”), Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash”), Robert Rovner (“Private Practice,” “Dallas”) and Jessica Queller (“Gilmore Girls,” “Gossip Girl,” “Felicity”).

THE FLASH

(@CW_TheFlash #TheFlash)

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark-matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive — The Flash. But when Barry used his extraordinary abilities to travel back in time and save his mother’s life, he inadvertently created an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint; a phenomenon that gave birth to the villainous speed god known as Savitar, and changed the lives of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Wally West (Keiyan Lonsdale) forever. With the help of his adoptive father, Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), his lifelong best friend and love interest Iris West (Candice Patton), and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs -- Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), C.S.I Julian Albert (Tom Felton), and an Earth-19 novelist named H.R. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) -- Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it. Based on the characters from DC, THE FLASH is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “Supergirl”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash”), Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”) and Todd Helbing (“Black Sails”).

DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

(@TheCW_Legends #LegendsofTomorrow)

After the defeat of Eobard Thawne and his equally nefarious Legion of Doom, the Legends face a new threat created by their actions at the end of last season. In revisiting a moment in time that they had already participated in, they have essentially fractured the timeline and created anachronisms – a scattering of people, animals, and objects all across time! Our team must find a way to return all the anachronisms to their original timelines before the time stream falls apart. But before our Legends can jump back into action, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and his newly established Time Bureau call their methods into question. With the Time Bureau effectively the new sheriffs in town, the Legends disband – until Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) discovers one of them in the middle of his well-deserved vacation in Aruba. Seeing this as an opportunity to continue their time travelling heroics, Sara (Caity Lotz) wastes no time in getting the Legends back together. We reunite with billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), the unconventional historian-turned-superhero Nick Heywood (Nick Zano), and Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the meta-human Firestorm. Once reunited, the Legends will challenge the Time Bureau’s authority over the timeline and insist that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau’s capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends. Based on the characters from DC, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Trollhunters,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”), Phil Klemmer (“The Tomorrow People,” “Chuck”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash”)

RIVERDALE

(@CW_Riverdale #Riverdale)

The first season of RIVERDALE found our characters reeling from the tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom. For many who had seen their home as perfect, safe, and innocent, the investigation into Jason’s murder peeled back the layers of their hometown to reveal a place bubbling over with secrets, mysteries, and scandals. Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), for instance, grew from a sweet, all-American kid into a young man acutely aware of the darker side of life—he broke his best friend’s heart, had a forbidden relationship with his music teacher, and grappled with whether he wanted to follow in his dad’s salt-of-the-earth footsteps. On the positive side, Archie repaired his friendship with Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), found some success as a musician—thanks in part to Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) and her band, the Pussycats—and found a new romantic interest in femme fatale Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes). New to town, Veronica spent the season trying to atone for her “bad girl” past, all the while wrestling with her beloved father’s criminal legacy—and contending with a mother, Hermione (Marisol Nichols), who might not be as innocent as she claimed. Veronica became fast-friends with Archie’s girl-next-door neighbor, Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), who did some growing up of her own this season. After Archie’s rejection, Betty threw herself into running the school paper, “The Blue and Gold,” where she discovered a better romantic match in sardonic outsider Jughead. Together, they tracked down Betty’s sister Polly (guest star Tiera Skovbye), who had been sent away by their overbearing mother Alice (Mädchen Amick). Under the guise of writing for the school paper, Betty and Jughead investigated Jason Blossom’s death—which led to them discover that Jughead’s father—FP Jones (guest star Skeet Ulrich)—was involved with covering up Jason’s murder. Meanwhile, Jason’s twin sister Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) ruled the school as Riverdale High’s venomous, merciless Red Queen—until she learned the true identity of Jason’s killer. As the town breathed a collective sigh of relief that Jason’s killer had been found out, another terrible crime occurred, in a space that had been considered one of the town’s safest, most innocent places. If Jason Blossom’s murder revealed the slimy underbelly beneath Riverdale’s surface, as we enter Season Two, the shooting of Fred Andrews threatens to plunge the entire town into utter darkness. Based on the characters from Archie Comics, RIVERDALE is from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with Berlanti Productions, with executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Supergirl,” “Glee”), Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”), Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”) and Jon Goldwater (Archie Comics).

SUPERNATURAL

(@CW_SPN #Supernatural)

The exciting journey of the Winchester brothers continues as SUPERNATURAL enters its thirteenth season. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have encountered every kind of supernatural threat, facing down monsters, demons, and gods. Saving people, hunting things, and keeping the world safe. In the show’s twelfth season, the Winchesters were reunited with their long-dead mother, and joined forces with the British arm of the Men of Letters. But things turned from bad to worse, with the return of Lucifer and the surprising revelation that the Devil is expecting a child. Now, Sam and Dean find themselves facing a creature of almost unimaginable power… one that could save the world… or destroy it. SUPERNATURAL is from Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers Robert Singer (“Midnight Caller”), Andrew Dabb and Phil Sgriccia.

ARROW

(@CW_Arrow #Arrow)

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Deputy Mayor Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), and his new recruits, street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) and meta-human Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his “family”. Based on the characters from DC, ARROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Supergirl”), Marc Guggenheim (“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Eli Stone”), Wendy Mericle (“Desperate Housewives,” “Eli Stone”), Andrew Kreisberg (“The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“The Flash,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”).

CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND

(@CW_CrazyXGF #CrazyExGirlfriend)

When last we left our intrepid and at least slightly nutty heroine, Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom), she was at her wedding, abandoned at the altar by her obsession, Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III). In that moment, Rebecca found herself in a cliffhanger. Literally, because she, like, almost flung herself off a cliff. Instead, she found an unexpected well of strength inside herself and finally stood up to her abandoning father, flanked by her fierce girl squad. Phew. It was QUITE the wedding. So, what’s a girl to do now? Why, get revenge of course. Because Josh Chan, love of her life? He’s crossed over to the dark side -- ergo, he must die, unless of course he sees the error of his ways and realizes he and Rebecca are meant to be. But will he? It might be a bit tough to figure out, since he ran off the day of the wedding to be a priest. (Did we mention it was QUITE the wedding?) There’s also the matter of Rebecca’s friends and how far they will follow her attraction now that it’s turned possibly just a touch fatal. Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin), now in training to be a legal eagle, has to decide how far to walk the gangplank for her cookie, Rebecca. Meanwhile, Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz) and Heather (Vella Lovell) will be facing giant obstacles and challenges in their personal lives. Hey, it’s not like anyone in West Covina ever gets to just be happy. In season three, we will also spend more time with a new man in Rebecca’s orbit, mega WASP Nathaniel Plimpton III (Scott Michael Foster), who will collide with her like a very handsome meteor. He may seem all alpha on the outside, but has his own daddy issues to work out. See above, no one in the Cov gets to just be happy right away. In OTHER WeCo news, supercouple White Josh (David Hull) and Darryl (Pete Gardner) will be challenged by Darryl’s baby fever. Will Darryl give up his yen for a baby Darryl or Darrylette? And how will Rebecca be entangled in their plans? And what about Rebecca’s mental health? Will she finally turn her attention to the fuel for her romantic fire? This and more, accompanied by a bejillion songs and dances, coming up next on season three of CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND. From CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND is executive produced by Rachel Bloom, along with Aline Brosh McKenna (“The Devil Wears Prada”), Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer,” “The Amazing Spider-Man” films), Erin Ehrlich (“Awkward”), Michael Hitchcock (“Glee”) and Sarah Caplan (“Ray Donovan”).

JANE THE VIRGIN

(@CWJaneTheVirgin #JaneTheVirgin)

It’s been quite a year (or three) for Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez). Although she got married, her husband Michael (Bret Dier) was shot on their wedding night! But luckily, he lived to tell the tale. And then, at long last… Jane had sex. That’s right, friends, she’s Jane The Virgin no more! And let me tell you, married life was everything she had hoped for… until the worst thing ever happened and Michael died from complications from his injury. I know. It was a heartbreaker. We pick our story up three years later and Jane’s life is certainly not what she planned. First of all, she’s a widow, like her Abuela (Ivonne Coll). But she’s also channeled that grief into a book about her love story with Michael… And guess what? It was being published! So that was good news! Oh, and also on the bright side – Jane’s parents – Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Ro (Jaime Camil) – finally found their way back to each other and got engaged. And speaking of finding their way back to each other, Jane and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) are now the closest of friends. And it’s a good thing, because remember their cute, snuggly son Mateo? Well, he’s now quite the handful – to put it mildly. And to make matters worse – Rafael’s other kids were frickin’ angels. Yup, that’s right, the twins he had with Petra were smart and well-behaved and pretty damn near perfect. Oh, and Petra (Yael Grobglas) was kicking butt professionally too. See, she’d transformed the sleek Marbella into a kids’ hotel. And business was booming until everyone’s (not) favorite employee Scott was found dead during the inaugural pirate treasure hunt! I know, OMG, right? And soon, Petra and her twin sister Anezka were both suspects! But you know who it actually was… ? Actually, I’m not going to spoil it, but trust me – it was straight out of a telenovela… which this is, after all. JANE THE VIRGIN is produced by CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, in association with Electus, with executive producers Jennie Snyder Urman (“Emily Owens, M.D.”), Ben Silverman (“The Biggest Loser”), Gary Pearl (“10.5: Apocalypse”) and Jorge Granier (“Que el Cielo Me Explique”).

THE 100

(@CWThe100 #The100)

For four seasons, THE 100 have fought to survive. That fight has torn them apart, turned them against each other, and taken the lives of their closest friends. Season Four introduced our heroes to the harsh truth that the human race is doomed to face an unbeatable enemy: the remaining nuclear reactors on Earth have melted down and are setting the atmosphere on fire. Our heroes had very little time to prepare for the worst, with every possible solution disappearing almost as quickly as they were able to come up with them. With a literal countdown to the end of the world, our heroes will be forced to go to unimaginable lengths to make it out alive – with or without each other. In the aftermath of Praimfaya, they must begin again, and with Season Five our heroes will have to examine their responsibility to the new place they call home, and the future generations who will inhabit it. Can they begin again and celebrate what remains, or will the frailties of human nature cost them their one chance to rise from the ashes? Based on the book series by Kass Morgan, THE 100 is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Jason Rothenberg and Leslie Morgenstein (“The Vampire Diaries”).

IZOMBIE

(@CWiZombie #iZombie)

Olivia “Liv” Moore (Rose McIver) was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible. Based upon characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo, iZOMBIE is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars,” “Party Down,” “Cupid”), Diane Ruggiero-Wright (“Veronica Mars,” “The Ex List,” “That’s Life”), Danielle Stokdyk (“Veronica Mars,” “Party Down,” “Cupid”) and Dan Etheridge (“The Carrie Diaries,” “Veronica Mars,” “Party Down”).

THE ORIGINALS

(@CWOriginals #TheOriginals)

Season four of THE ORIGINALS begins on the fifth anniversary of the Mikaelson family’s greatest defeat. In the years since, the Original hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has been held prisoner by Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis), while his siblings lie trapped in an enchanted sleep. When Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) finally succeeds in reviving them, the newly-awakened Mikaelsons execute a daring rescue of the captive Klaus. Once reunited, the family finds themselves faced with an even bigger threat: the revival of an ancient evil that has strong ties to their most vulnerable family member, Hope (Summer Fontana). After a devastating attack by this nightmarish entity, the Mikaelsons discover there is only one way to save themselves -- they must stand their ground in New Orleans and forge an alliance with the very enemies who hate them most, both Marcel and the leader of the New Orleans witches, Vincent Griffith (Yusuf Gatewood). But as their horrifying adversary closes in, the Mikaelsons find that they are facing an evil even more powerful than themselves, one with intimate knowledge of their family’s greatest weakness. With everything at stake -- their city, their family, and their very immortality -- the Mikaelsons must find a way to stand together, even as their secrets threaten to tear them apart. THE ORIGINALS is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with My So-Called Company, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Kyle XY,” “Wasteland”) and Leslie Morgenstein (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl”) are executive producers.

I never thought I'd see the day that The CW was the network that I watch the most.

Sunday: The Simpsons
Tuesday: The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Wednesday: Riverdale
Thursday: Supernatural

I'm sure I'll be watching lots of cable shows in the fall too.

The first post has been updated with the schedule grids.

I never thought I'd see the day that The CW was the network that I watch the most.
That's been the case for me pretty much since they got into the superhero game.

Here's where I stand:
Sunday: I'll give Ghosted a shot, given the pedigree involved, but the trailer didn't wow me. Otherwise "Madam Secretary" is my only network show on Sundays now, which is fine since it's a particularly business night for cable shows.

Monday: "The Brave" is the most procedural of the military-themed shows debuting this season, but it had the slickest trailer. I don't really need the soap opera, so I'll give it a shot. "The Gifted" is my second most anticipated new broadcast show. It will have to be very bad indeed for me not to stick with it. I'll give "Me, Myself & I" a try because the concept reminds me a bit of "How I Met Your Mother" and I'm a big fan of John Larroquette. I'm also sticking with "Supergirl", though this season was a big step down from the first season on CBS.

Tuesday: "The Gospel of Kevin" is my most anticipated new broadcast show. Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters did a great job playing in this irreverent theological space with "Reaper", and Josh Ritter was great as the title character's brother on the similarly themed "Joan of Arcadia". Both excellent shows got cut short far before their time, so I'm looking forward to what all involved do with this second shot. The only weak spot in the trailer was Cristela Alonzo as the angel Yvette, but fortunately the role is being recast.

"The Good Place" is the best half-hour comedy on television period, and I'm really pysched that it made it onto the fall schedule and isn't being held until midseason. "Lethal Weapon" and "The Mick" both exceeded expectations this season and will be priority viewing for me next season. "The Middle" continues to be remarkably consistent for such a long-running comedy and makes a great cap at the end of the night. But with "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow" also on Tuesdays, my DVR is really going to be getting a work out.

Wednesday: Only "Speechless" for me, unless I catch up with "The Blacklist" at some point. I watched "American Housewife" this season since it followed "The Middle" but now that it's on its own, I won't bother. Neither new show does anything for me whatsoever.

Thursday: "Gotham" and "Arrow" will make a more thematically sound superhero double feature for me than "Supergirl" and "Gotham" did this season. "This Is Us" continues to be must-watch television. And I'll give "The Orville" a shot on the basis of my fondness for Galaxy Quest.

Friday: I'll give "Marvel's Inhumans" a try, though I'm not optimistic. Otherwise, nothing.

Midseason: On NBC, "Rise" has a lot of great talent involved. "Good Girls" has Retta and Mae Whitman. And "Reverie" has an interesting sci-fi concept. I'll also give "A.P. Bio" a shot since Glenn Howerton's playing the lead. None of FOX's midseason offerings really grab my attention. On ABC, the most exciting midseason offering is "The Crossing", which has a very similar premise to "The 4400". I might watch "Alex, Inc." and "Splitting Up Together" on the basis of the talent involved. For CBS, the only one that's interesting is "Instinct", and that's almost entirely because of Alan Cumming. On The CW, "Black Lightning" and "Life Sentence" really grabbed my attention.

Kind of incredible that every network has at least one remake or revival of an old show: NBC has "Will & Grace", FOX has "The X-Files", ABC has "Roseanne" and "American Idol", CBS has "S.W.A.T." (and the long-running "Hawaii Five-0" reboot) and The CW has the "Dynasty" reboot.
