As one might guess from my user name, this is a Great Day!
í have a crappy HD download somewhere, but the notion of a 4K scan (from the original neg?) is just beyond all my previous hopes. It's not an especially adventurous film, photographically, but 70s NYC looks fantastic on anamorphic...
Tonight on BBC Radio4, the very cool Professor Sir Christopher Frayling will be trawling the BBC archives for "2001: A Space Odyssey" material, as well as new interviews with, amongst others, John Landis and Christopher Nolan. A Must Listen ~

In the Zsigmond chapter of the 'Masters of Light' book í seem to recall him saying that he found shooting this film tricky as Spielberg wanted him to shoot it ultra-sharp and clean, almost "industrial photography" í think the quote was.Not a style which VS was accustomed to...

i hope to have mine by next week.
i am in the UK, where "Endeavour" is funded, written, shot, edited and broadcast first {in High Definition}, by itv. Who then choose not to release it on anything other than DVD, as 'brits won't buy blu'. Maybe they would if itv gave them the choice!

I find if you right click and open in a new tab it's pretty legible, as opposed to just left clicking the image.

A thrillingly interesting despatch ~
Should be learned off by heart by every Blu-Ray producer in the business.
I received my Deluxe Box over the weekend but waited until last night to, carefully, open it up. It truly is a thing of beauty. Never mind actually watching the the motion picture, I was almost moved to tears with the box itself!
As Richard Gallagher detailed earlier the design is clean and...
Is it the lesbian club scene?
If so, the 'noise' was apparently deliberate on the part of the film makers, according to a discussion over on reduser.net with contributions from Ian Vertovec, the digital colour grader at Lightiron.
Personally, I never noticed anything outstandingly distracting...
