Universal recently released this on DVD (). I assume this may reflect licensing changes as I think I had most of these previously scattered over several labels. I don't think that there is anything new here, but I am excited about the title. I'd love to see subsequent Rankin Bass collections...
One of my greatest internet pet peeves is clicking on an article only to find that to actually read the article, I have to click on another link. Usually, if I know this is going to occur, I simply avoid clicking on the article in the first place. I primarily view the blu-ray forum, and I...
Unbeknownst to me, WHV released both Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet and Daffy Ducks Thanks-for-Giving Specials on DVD in September 2020 as part of the Looney Tunes Holiday Triple Feature. I don't think they have been released on DVD before, although I may be overlooking some special feature...
There should be a press release about this, but this is coming. Not sure how much repeats prior available content but this is nice. https://timelife.com/products/the-best-of-the-bing-crosby-specials
Sporting an unusually high price ($59.99), Warner Archives has released the complete series of Histeria!:http://www.wbshop.com/product/histeria!%20the%20complete%20series%20(mod)%201000611055.do?adid=071216WACNR&ref=EW071216&utm_source=wacnewrelease&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=EWACNR160712...
Hey, I wanted to point everyone's attention to a great thread over at the 1966 Batman Message Board on rock bands appearing in classic 60s tv shows. Most of them are west coast garage bands. It answered a lot of questions I've had. Check it out...
I was looking at getting a Sony BDPS6500 3D 4K Upscaling Blu-ray Player for a non4K tv. If I play a DVD on it, will that cause any problems? Would a non4K blu-ray player be better for that purpose? What if I play a blu-ray player on it? Any thoughts or information would be appreciated!
1. A sales rep showed me on the 9000 that there is a 3d mode. If you watch 3d blu ray on the 9000 and have the glasses, would the 3d be as good as on the 8500?
2. Apparently, the 8500 has only a mini one connect box while the 9000 has a fulll one. If you wanted to update the 8500 in a future...
The Night Walker, staring Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Taylor is reportedly one of Universal's best horror titles of the 1950s - 1960s era. This is a DVD only title and hopefully the quality holds up (and more follows)...
Interesting slide show on television shows that debuted in 1965: http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/gallery/1965-classic-tvs-vintage-year/ss-AAe43xw
What a great year for classic tv.

A horse is a horse, of course, and for those of you who like sophisticated, carefully written comedy, your patience has been rewarded, as tvshowsondvd has announced that Shout! is releasing a complete series of the Mr. Ed show...
There have gotten to be a number of Universal Vault titles that I would like, but I don't want to pay $20 (or even $15) for each. When and where have people found the best deals?
I was looking at the Wikipedia article on this show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurel_and_Hardy_(animated_series)) and I saw it had been issued in France. It's on Amazon.fr, and it has an English soundtrack according to the listing...
I opened this set for the first time today (I have owned it for several years), and the first two disks couldn't be read by my DVD player. As I usually do not have any problems with that player, I wondered if the disks might be defective. Does anyone know whether there has been a problem with...
I was reading an article regarding James Garner's passing, and the author compared him to Darrin McGavin, noting that the premise of McGavin's The Outsider was very much like that of Rockford Files. I did some research on the show as I knew nothing about it, and it looks great. This is from...
I have been wanting to get a 55" or 60" inch tv for some time. Because of some classic 3D titles that I would like to own, I would like to get a 3D tv. What bothers me is that 3D tvs continue to be about $300 or more above comparable non3D tvs. Why is that? It seems that Smart tv technology...
He finished his career by appearing as the lonely repairman for Maytag, but Jesse White (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0924964/?ref_=tt_cl_t6) was a prolific character actor who appeared on lots of classic tv shows. Although he usually played other roles, for me his best performances were as...
TCM is showing John Wayne's Sea Spoilers tonight at 10:30 e.s.t. This is one of those rarely seen films Wayne made in the mid-1930s at Universal. Personally, I would love to see a set of those films released as a TCM exclusive. When I saw it listed to be shown, it did raise my hopes that...
From TVSHOWSONDVD: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Barbary-Coast-DVDs-Announced/19558. The great thing about this hobby is that there continue to be surprises. This is probably one of my most wanted 1970s series, so I am very happy about this.
I recently debuted H.R. Pufnstuf for my kids, and it was such a success that I went back searching for more information on my other two favorite Krofft shows, Lidsville and Far Out Space Nuts. When the current dvd set for Pufnstuf was released, Vivendi put out a press release that said this...
I noticed this announcement (http://classicflix.com/TCM-Vault-Midnight-Lace-1960-with-Doris-Day-Rex-Harrison-an-31003.html) when I looked at the information about the new Frances set. Most interestingly, it is a Universal film, the first TCM vault entry since Western Horizons about one year...
I finally purchased this set on Black Friday, and I sort of watched most of it last weekend. I’m no av quality expert, but for the most part, these cartoons (72 in all) looked and sounded great. There are occasional white specks that mar the image and there are even less frequent places where...
Forgive me if there is another thread sort of addressing this topic, but I saw the first two volumes of this on sale at Target recently, and I was wondering if they are any good. I am a big fan of other Universal produced mysteries in the 1970s (Columbo, McCloud, Ellery Queen), but I never...
I have been trying to track down the shorts Bing Crosby made for Mack Sennet in the early 1930s. As far as I can tell, there were eight of these. I have found five. Portions of some of them were edited into the 1946 feature, Road to Hollywood. For the complete versions, Kino released a DVD...
At the end of June, I received notice from the Disney Movie Club that they were releasing Talespin Vol. 3 and Gargoyles, Season 2, Vol. 2 as Disney Movie Club Exclusives. The Talespin Release completes the series. Hopefully, this bodes well for the possibility that Ducktales may be completed...
