Thank you. The system started by me telling the kids that we'd get a big tv when the basement renovation was completed. Once I got around to shopping for the "big tv" I discovered that the front projector system was the same price - as it turned out it was substantially less because I found the...
This is a pic of my Big Screen/Home Theatre set up. The screen is made of theatre screen that I bought off eBay for $25 and the frame is a homemade design. Equipement consist of a Cable PVR, Panamax power conditioer, Oppo 981, Marantz SR4001, Technics EQ, Marantz CD player and Optoma HD72...
Try this site. Once you've had a look around, give them a call. Kevin Benton is the owner and has been a great deal of help in educating and assisting me. http://www.complete-it.ca/
I originally bought the 970 and then upgraded to the 981. Never had any issues - including video quality. Sorry to hear about your problems. Has anyone installed the latest firmware released a few days ago?
I received my projector back from Optoma today. They told me the problem was a defective bulb. They replaced it at their expense. Providing this corrects the problem, I'm very pleased with their customer support.
Well... I shipped it to Optoma and forwarded a link to a thread on this subject from another AV board and explained to them that they can't be telling me it's the bulb when dozens of other people have had the same issue. And, even if it IS the bulb they can't advertise that the bulb lasts 3000...
Did the bulb exchange cure the problem? As in, it hasn't happened again since? How many hours on the new bulb? Interestingly, I powered it up this morning to see if there were any blinking trouble/service lights that kick in when it blacks out but it worked perfectly. I finally had to shut it...
AUMFC... I have a very similar set up to what you're describing. It's an approx 100" screen and an Optoma HD72 projector. At the front end I have a Digital HD Cable Box, an Oppo 981 DVD player that upconverts up to 1080p. I have it set at 720p to match the native resolution of my Optoma...
 I'm hoping someone will be able to shed some light on my Optoma HD72 issue. It has been installed and working perfectly since Jan 1 of this year. My son watched a movie this afternoon and then tonight when we turned it on it powered up fine and then just went black - like the bulb blew. I...
I have Rogers cable and an HD/PVR. They told me the same thing when I bought it - that it "might not" be supported. Mine worked fine plugged directly into the TV. I think what they mean is that the cable company doesn't want people calling them for technical support - hence the "not supported"...
With all due respect to Jeff... there is no way I'd spend good money on a HT receiver and DVD player and then connect them with a "cheapo came-in-the-box-with-any-video-component-for-the-last-20-years-yellow-ended video cable". Audio cables are coaxial for a reason and those yellow video cables...
Regarding cables - or any other component in the system - my approach is to match the quality as best I can. For example, it doesn't make much sense to have a top of the line amp and cheap speakers or vice versa. So with your coaxial cable question, I would recommend matching it with the quality...
Feel free to tell him that I (Wayne Ricard) referred you. I did a lot of research on prices etc after I found his website and in the end was convinced that he has the best prices around. I think he'll ship your first order free so make sure you don't forget anything. BTW, the Oppo 981 comes with...
Wayne... a fellow Canadian here. I live in Durham Region (east of you) and recently finished my HT project. I bought almost everything from Complete IT in Burlington. I would highly recommend giving them a call or visiting the website @ complete-it.ca The place is run by Kevin Benton. He's very...
I have one. Not been disappointed so far. It's my first HT amp so I've found the learning curve to be interesting. One comment/question though. I have an Oppo DVD player hooked up to it with a DVI to HDMI conversion cable. On the Input Setup section it "looks" like you can assign any video...
Thank you. No one??? I haven't put the screen up as I'm having a frame built for it. I need to determine whether to match the screen size to the rax projector image or the actual dvd/movie image size?
I have an Optoma HD72 projector. The image size from the projector (without an input) is slightly bigger than the image from my dvd player. It's like there is a barely noticable border around the movie image. Is there a way to match these two image sizes?
I have a very slightly used Oppo 971 for sale. All original packaging and included accessories. $150 or best offer. Thanks No one? I did say "or best offer". :)
