    The Titan Theater

Yes, I've played them quite a few times (usually listen to them while I work). They sound very good for the money. They're no audiophile speakers but they would probably beat any HTIB speaker without a problem. I wanted something that would dissapear when the lights when down and at 46$ a pair...

    The Titan Theater

Well It's been quite awhile since I've posted here. After about a year and a half break after just getting started on my theater I'm finally getting back to it. I'm posting some pics of the various stages of the construction so far. I'm very happy with the color choices. Of course it looks much...

Denon AVR-3805 won't send digital audio to two rooms -- alternatives?

Ted, Would it matter if your Bedroom + living room both played the mini (or any source you have connected to zone 1) at the same time. If that's ok with you. Then here's a low cost solution. Get a speaker selector (impedance matching) and run 1-2 pairs (or more depending on the model) of...

Denon AVR-3805 won't send digital audio to two rooms -- alternatives?

Sorry. misunderstood you. Why are you worried about getting DD/DTS 5.1 fed to zone 2 if your only going to have to convert it to 2-channel any way. I would suggest you use the analog inputs or buy another receiver ( a small digital like the panasonic sa-xr55 wouldn't take up much room and...

Denon AVR-3805 won't send digital audio to two rooms -- alternatives?

How about something like this.. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...26&rak=180-980 This might work for you. You'd have to switch it manually but at least the price is good.

Where to buy new power outlets?

Go to an electrical supply house (most sell to cash customers)and ask them for "SPEC" grade outlets. These are the better ones. Check HD and Lowes again I'm pretty sure I've purchased them there before.

    Home Theater Projector Questions :(

I would suggest running you dvd player directly to your projector. Especially if it's HDMI capable. Most people only run video through there receiver if they run out of inputs on the display device. It's another step in the cable chain that may or may not degrade the signal a bit. HDMI...

    IR repeaters

Don't know how well it works, But for the price it seems like a better way to go. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...37&rak=180-828 Because it's RF you won't have to worry about light interfering with the signal.

Hey guys Just wanted to post a little review on this nifty little box I just purchased. http://www.glorystar.tv/shop/item/AC-CTMM10 I grabbed it off E-Bay and got it yesterday. Took me about 45-min. or so to hook up. I was trying some of the lower channels and was getting alot of snow...

Anyone use karaoke in their home theater?

Looks cool. Having separate PA speakers is the way to go. People tend to want scream sometimes into the mic.(Especially after a couple of drinks) So there's no chance of them killing your HT speakers. Good luck and have fun!

Anyone use karaoke in their home theater?

Sorry meant 2 karaoke discs not 2000. Wow that's alot! Lazy on the keyboard. I try to make it fun. I have a disco ball, laser light, and bunch of other crazy DJ lights. Another tip- Use a good Mic. I have 2-Shure mics that I use and they sound much better than the one that came with the...

Anyone use karaoke in their home theater?

I have a karaoke set-up in my HT. It started out with about 2 K-discs now I have about 100. Can't tell you how much I've enjoyed it. It's really fun to get people who wouldn't normally sing to get up there and belt it out. One thing to keep in mind is try to keep it fun. Some people can sing...

Switch ganging - powering 3 zones

Be careful, alot of the time the white wire in the box is used for the hot line going to the load (light, fan ETC.). A neutral isn't required for a single pole switch but there must be a neutral wire at the load. Example: Say you run a 14-2 (black -white and ground) romex wire to a box on...

Panel - Wall Plates - Suggestions Anyone?

OK I've done a little more work on this and this is probably your most cost effective way of doing this whole project. VGA - The PE connector I mentioned above. $7.81 at PE You'll need a VGA cable for this it's a female to female VGA connection. 500ft of RG/59 - $65.71 at PE You may need...

Panel - Wall Plates - Suggestions Anyone?

I didn't see the 12 port plate on the site( sorry missed it) IDC is a type of connection where the wire insulation is not removed prior to the punchdown. For example if your using the RCA-IDC connector you just remove the main jacket of the cat-5e and push the corresponding wires down (with a...

Panel - Wall Plates - Suggestions Anyone?

Another place to look is here ICC.com ICC has a modular S-video jack(ran with cat-5e) that only takes up one space in the faceplate. All of PE's s-video connectors take up a whole gang. The VGA connector is the one that most likely will have to have it's own seperate s-gang faceplate...

Did I make a good choice?

Yamahas newer receivers are said by many to be less bright then they used to be (brightness is a subjective term anyway- Bright to some is warm to others). I have HTR-5790 (don't remember what the RXV equivalent is)and I don't find brightness to be an issue at all. Heres a review of the...

Opininos on the Yamaha HTR 5990

I have the 5790 which lacks any HDMI. Overall I can't say there's anything I don't like about mine. I had a pioneer years ago and was never impressed with it. Still try to go out and give a listen to some others. Take a look at Onkyo, Denon, HK. If your budget allows the Outlaw Audio...

    Home Theater Installation Charge?

Price is always a touchy subject. High price to some people is a great deal to other's. Check out Bestbuy they list some HT set-up services on their web-site that may give you a good starting point. Another thing you can do is call local Installers and try to get an on the phone estimate (most...

    Crossover ???

I was actually thinking about those Dayton's as well. Maybe I'll give them a try with the X-over and see. Worst case I'll send them back and be out a little money on shipping. These are cheap speakers to begin with so a decent woofer and x-over may make big difference. Thanks for the help...

    Wire for Speakers Question

CL-3 Is a fire rating. So that if there is a fire in your house the plastic sheeting won't act as kindling. It's usually a code violation in most places if you run standard speaker wire behind the wall.( regular wire can be run in-wall as long as it is in some type conduit or greenfield)
